I've lost two friends to that road, so I'm just glad nobody got hurt.

Hey Brian, I'm Robert, Darrell's friend that was driving the car, glad to see you're going to rebuild your car. Things happen and while it sucks you've just got to move forward.

We'll get Darrell's car back up and better than before to see you again at MATG and I'll take my car next time lol.

Right on.

Are you doing OK?

FWIW, I started my rebuild with a lightly used MSM Bilstein setup:

Also scored a bunch of parts needed for cheap right here in town 30min from my house:

It's starting!

I'm good, thanks for asking.

Excellent! Bilstein suspension and MSM front including foglights certainly is a great start!

Sweet looks like you have a msm lip to go with it, I've been busy too trying to collect parts too. Here is some of my progress so far.

Don't judge me guys but I am going to run a 5spd with 3.63 for a little while.I JUST put in a low mileage trans and since 5spd hold little value, I'm going to use it. It is a NB2 5spd at least.

Before removal

I forgot how easy these are to get out.

Yay no rust

I am SO glad I have a decent place to work on this.

I hate harbor freight, I have a need for all the tools ever. This was a unplanned purchase. I am going to pull all my arms and clean them, then throw in new bushings. I've been trying to get ahold of SADFab but can't?

So much thanks to psyber_0ptix for the deal on this. Got the set for $86 shipped with a lifetime warranty.

I can't believe I got this for $140 shipped off ebay. It looks brand new.

Holy Crap...that doesn't look NEARLY as bad as I thought it would. Not that I really feel better about things, but at least it looks like your rebuild path shouldn't be horrible!

I'm torn on the MSM lip. I bought it because the bumper was the best one the guy I bought it off of had. I'm halfway to selling the spoiler because I'd WAY rather have an RS Factory Stage lip. Looks like the NB2 equivalent of the old NA OEM R-Package lip.

You should get a decent penny for the lip. The damage so so, I'm going to have to do some wielding in the tire well, one of the seems is busted. I'm also going to have to address the frame rails. The suspension is a cakewalk. I did have to pay a small fortune for new rear uprights. I went ahead and got the blueprint bearing set ones. Might as well.... The only thing I cannot do is the bodywork. I have to get it on the street before my body guy and take care of it. Then a repaint. I've lined out a good local painter to do it. I've painted enough cars for my lifetime, I'll let someone else do it. They owe me a favor so it won't cost much.

Hey you, cut that out. I'm having to beat that little voice in my head with a baseball bat.

I talked to my body man today. Its going to cost more than I expected so some upgrades are going to be put off, at least in the end I'll have a freshly painted car to cover in rock pecks. I'm going to go with the green but more flake I think. My dad loved the green on my car so much he painted his truck that color thankfully he had leftover and had bought name brand paint. That saves me a buck.

What are you planning for the frame rail? Also, are you stripping down, maybe time for cage? Safety first!

I'm going to beat the daylights out of them then thrown on at least frame rail guards. I may add a butterfly brace if I can afford it. As usual the extra money from the wreck has gone to a few bills so my budget is getting smaller.

I packed up the diff and sent if off to a spec miata place to swap the 4.10 with 3.63 and refresh the diff. I don't have the tools or knowledge so I had to send it off.

I am still collecting parts. Another 'upgrade' would be a fm spark kit. I bought my own coils. I got a set of 8 for $100 new. Man those things are cheap. I went with car coils mainly because FM will tweak your tune and since they have put up with my non stop questions over the years, I don't mind supporting them.

As if there isn't enough to do at my place. I am helping a friend with his 2.5 swap here are some pics.

We hope to have this done soon. So I can turn my shop into a paint booth and I can get my car done.

Man guys I'm so frustrated. I sent my 3.63 set and diff to a spec miata place to assemble it and fedex broke the box and lost my 3.63 gears. Now I have a case open hoping they will replace it. That is going to be a big time setback. I was hoping to have the car on the street this weekend. I've been working on bushing and zerk fittings etc. This really has me mad.

Aww dude. That's crap! Did you have to submit your receipt to prove it's value?

Yup, I insured the whole thing for $1,500 in case this crap happened. So I hope they do me right.

Ouch. :( Sorry to hear, man.

Was the axle set for $86 something that was/is available at a seller/store online? Or did Psyber just happen to have them? My car appears to be tearing up/incapable of getting a replacement axle in the passenger side that will last.

New axles (not remanned)
https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...earchTerm=axle

or

Coupon Code HXE3BX for 30% Ship-to-Home purchases

I've used the CarQuest axles through Advance Auto and the shaft themselves are thicker than the OEM they replaced. Limited Lifetime Warranty as well.

@miataman04 did you have MSM diff, I forget?
