My exhaust is tight since I dump externally by the trans so it took longer to get that out of the way. IDK by yourself taking your time 6-8 hours to do it right. If all depends on your experience. My friend and I can get it done in 4 hours, but we both have several of these under our belt. If you are going to pull the engine soon and everything works for now, I would wait. With it out of the car it is easy to do.

I installed and tested my trans a few days ago.
04 5spd 20k miles $300
Motocraft $50
5X shifter rebuid $87
ACT throwout bearing $37
OEM pilot bearing $17
Full OEM seal kit $67
So $558 total. Next time I am going to go 6spd, I don't want to do that until I install 3.63s
Once I got all that together, I got some friends together and went to Eureka Springs Arkansas, about 4 hours from me. The Ozarks are great for running corners. Unfortunately it rained most of the time, oh well. The Cresent inn is there, it's supposedly haunted. Here are some of my pics.

I still can't get my BOV to respond correctly. I need some ideas.
Tial 50mm older model, it is mounted right by the inter cooler on the intake manifold side.
What I've done:

What I've done:
- Direct 1/4" source on intake manifold
- New 1/4" HPS hose (about 3' run)
- 7psi spring
- Took the BOV appart and lubed everything

Slowing the turbo down? Yes.
Hurting the turbo? No.
A fraction of a second of surge isnt going to hurt it. Surge is only a problem when it happens continuously, leading to harmonic, vibrating, destruction.

Its like 1 second's worth of surge, that is the annoying part. The car would be so much quieter if i could fix this. Here is another video, don't make fun of my grandma no redline shifting.

You may need to use a different vale and plumb it back into the intake or put a filter on it to muffle it.
I used a OEM Mitsubishi valve from a 3000GT at one point and it was very quiet, but they are apparently very leaky. Maybe something like a turbosmart or GReddy Type S.

Chalk it up to "doesn't matter."
That's not actually surge. Surge is under load. Every FM setup i've had/experienced has done the same thing.
If you want quiet you need to just put the biggest valve you can put on it. The old GFB i had on our MSM was earsplittingly loud (actually sounded exactly like yours), the hugenormous HKS Racing Type 1 i had on the MX6 was nearly silent until it was tasked with venting 30psi.

It's been a while since I posted anything, I've been waaaaaaay busy.
I'll start with the first thing, I finally finished my house and got moved in. I still have to finish out the shop but that won't take long. I'm so glad to be moved. I've got 4 kids under 8, we were staying in a tiny rental. It was hell. Now that I'm settled in, I'm hoping to get some things lined out on my car.
The day after I moved, it hailed really bad. My hood is covered in tiny little bumps. Thankfully I have full coverage insurance on the car. I've got enough money to replace the hood and paint the whole car. However new OEM hoods are not cheap and there isn't anything close as far as used parts go. I'm tossing around the idea of buying a whole running car so I will have some parts. I work on my friends miata's a lot so I would be able to sell all the little stuff if I did. So you'll probably see me grab another car soon.
After that I had to change the brakes on my Sequoia, the pads went out without warning and toasted the rotors with em, I spent a small fortune on EBC rotors and pads. I got the green stuff, hopefully they hold up good. I'm going to use my Sequioa to tow my miata to deals gap in august. I love my miata but 9.5 hours in it is quite a stretch plus I like being able to carry tools, tires and such. I'll be in a miata convoy so I bet I end up with some luggae too.
A few years ago, one of my close friends died. Before he did he made me promise to beat a corvette because I always wanted to do that. Although some time has past since then, I've not forgotten my promise. One of my other friends recently bought one, so once I get my car dialed in, I'm going to race it. It sure looks pretty.
Some last minute adjustments before a drive. I found that the ECU timing reading needed to be correctly calibrated.
Off to the dyno, the owner of the dyno has a few super cars. Here is the one he drove today. He has a lot of money but is one of the most down to earth guys I know.
So this is what I have fixed since the original run. I've started working with a tuner to do some remote tuning. We haven't touched the tune yet because we wanted to make sure all the small stuff was fixed first.
Just for fun I threw my last miata's dyno on here as well as my buddies BONE STOCK 06 miata. Thats a hoot, looking at those two cars makes me appreciate the power I do make more.

- New O2
- All new vacuum lines
- Re-routed the the cobbled up turbo piping
- Found that the ECU was not getting a boost signal at all, there was a huge hole in the line
- Re calibrated timing for the ECU
- Prayed to the turbo cat for more power
Just for fun I threw my last miata's dyno on here as well as my buddies BONE STOCK 06 miata. Thats a hoot, looking at those two cars makes me appreciate the power I do make more.

Do you have spool numbers? What A/R is the turbine?
Your torque curve is strange, most of the time with a big turbo you can see the point where the boost comes on because the torque curve suddenly shoots upwards, but yours is just a gradual climb from 3000-5000.
I don't think the 2.5" exhaust is doing your any favors, 3" would probably help a lot.
Have you done a leakdown test to evaluate the general health of the motor? How many miles on it since it was built?
Are you tuning the timing yourself, or is the dyno operator/tuner doing it? Are you able to get it to MBT, or is it detonation limited?
