Taa-daa! It tones out exactly as does the factory harness. That is, its hardwired for wasted spark. If I decide to set up sequential I'll just build another harness. Loose wire will eventually have a ring terminal so it can ground at the throttle body, just like the factory harness.

Adhesive heat shrink, nylon loom, new plugs and fresh GXL wire. I don't know what it is about building harnesses but I absolutely love doing it. When they work and fit of course.

I was a bit concerned where it turns the corner under the head so I triple heat shrink'd it. I may even wrap it with fancy silicone tape and file down the sharp edge on the head.

Anyway, that was fun.

Looks pro, good work G! Wiring is indeed fun if time consuming. It is always the last 10% of the job that takes the longest for me to make it all come together.

Thanks guys! Its really not that hard (he said before testing the harness) provided you take your time and plan it out step by step and DO NOT cheap out on materials. Quality solder/wire/loom/heat shrink makes all the difference in the world.

Good eye! That's pretty much exactly what it is. You take a single strand of wire and use it to mechanically bind the wire bundle together before soldering. It makes bringing together multiple strands MUCH easier. In this case, I've got 4 grounds coming from the individual coils on one end and the ground to the throttle body and harness connector on the other. It's something I thought I invented years ago by applying my mad Boy Scout knot and rope skills to electronics, but I found out in the last couple years its called a "lash splice."

The above says to tin the individual strands before binding, but I usually just hit the ends with my flux pen, bundle, bind and solder.

In fact, every thing you ever wanted to learn or know about wiring, splicing or installing ends is in that document. It's a fabulous resource and worth saving.

Also, I forgot to mention... I went to move the car so I could open the garage door on Sunday and the car freaked the hell out. The car had been sitting in the sun all afternoon so it was thoroughly heat soaked into the 80s and the restart was terrible. It struggled to catch and once it did it was super rough, then it started oscillating between almost dying around 300~400 RPM and shooting up to about 2500 RPM. It would go super lean (18 indicated) on th low end and into the 14 range on the high end. Super strange because everything has been kosher up until then.

I got on the throttle and got it under control and it idled fine after that, but I haven not tried to start it since. I want to make sure this isn't a regular thing before I install the COPs. I'll start it tonight when I get home and try to get a log if it happens again. My tune is not the best, but I didn't think it was THAT far out of whack. :(

<p>Something it could be is IAC valve&nbsp;PID oscillations, or something to do with that. If it happens again look at the IAC duty cycle and if it hunting with it then it is idle tuning that you need to work on. If the duty is constant then it is probably something else.</p>

Yep, thought of that. Again, no laptop and no log so it'll have to wait. I was very surprised and it was more disappointing than anything else. My startups were not perfect, but they were passable and it let me worry about other things. Oh well, back to basics I guess :dunno:

I have the SD card slot in the MS, maybe I should just stick a 4gb card in there and tell the MS to log all the things all the time. I think I can make it do that, right?

You can, but unless you have the RTC in it, the MS will reset the timestamp every time it powers on, so you wind up with 256 (which appears to be the max # of files it will create) 5 minute long files and no clue which one was which.

I feel like it should be super easy to gin up a very compact straight serial to bluetooth adapter, seeing as how they are both using the same stupid RS232 standard.

Why should I not use bluetooth again? I mean, other than my obvious crippling ignorance and lack of ability to understand such things?

Well, that's not as helpful as I thought it would be. (The SD slot, not your comment) IDK if my MS3-B has a RTC or not, I'll have to go check teh specs. Thanks for the heads up though.
