There's a corresponding boost spike.

There's a gentle creep, but I don't think it's enough to explain the 20% jump in torque all by itself.

Yeah, suppose so.

Rish, why are you doing compression and leakdown tests again ?

I also don't understand what you intend to accomplish by redoing the tests. Your numbers are fine. Tune more, worry less.

Unsure of the blip actually... I chalked it up to VD being weird or the ground changing. I don't see any large changes in timing on the log.

Attaching log and tune for reference. The WG definitely starts off at like 7ish and then creeps up from there, so this is far from an optimal setup. May be nice to put EBC into the mix and see how that plays with things. Is that usually better with a more 'stock-ish' IWG setup or does it matter if I use an adjustable? I've only played with EBC and EWG's previously so this is kinda different due to the boost onset and profiles.

Just want to get a good baseline with things set up right. I want to know if there's any reason to reach out the the builder, though I'm guessing there really isn't based on the response here?

Good to see the cam timing solved this!

If we dont use boost by gear, I still dont quite understand the need for EBC. If my wastegate is clamped shut and im getting boost as soon as possible, whats the beni? I just dont understand how on a simple set up, that an EBC is anything but headache over MBC. aside from traction, is there any reason one would want to postpone the onset of full boost? Maybe I just answered that, on track you wouldn't need to be so careful with throttle input?

Can someone enlighten me on this please?

Holds the wastegate shut for longer. A wastegate controlled with just a spring will crack open as boost approaches the wastegate spring pressure, fully opening at some set PSI. EBC lets you hold the wastegate shut as long as you want.

got it. so that would make a pretty big difference in a low boost set up. Maybe less so from seat of pants feel at 15,16,17,25 psi levels?

The other big advantage to EBC is that you can do boost-by-TPS, which really helps with making the throttle more linear and for better drivability through corners.

Yeah, in the past I had just boost by TPS setup and it was fantastic. It felt very much more like an NA car to me relative to how things were before the install. I didn't really set up boost by gear.

The thing with ebc as well, like Aidan was saying, is that the algorithm holds the spring closed for longer so it's shut and boost builds way faster. Springs will start to crack open and there's a range of boost between crack and fully open so there's still some room for spool improvement that ebc does well.

It'll help at higher boost levels too since the spring will still crack before the ebc target would let it .

Boost by TPS makes a lot of sense. By TPS and gear might be amazing?

guess I need to hook up the ebc..

AFAIK the MS doesn't let you do both at the same time.

Soooo...
Would anyone expect the dipstick to be shooting out and puking oil with those leakdown numbers?

My drive to vermont was absolutely amazing with a few mountain runs thrown in for good measure. I could have done without the panicked autozone stop to get oil and wire the dipstick to the manifold as a stopgap in order to stop it from puking oil everywhere again...

I guess this is a good reason to do another leakdown test and actually figure wtf is going on.

Of note. I don't have a catch can or check valve to the pcv.

no. it usually means you are a super noob and don't have the basic understandings of how a motor works plumb the turbo directly into the VC.

Wow, I didn't have that problem until I was around 30psi. It definitely mean you are boosting your crankcase. Wiring the dipstick isn't necessarily a good idea, you don't want to boost your rear main seal out.

Well the goal was to not loose all my oil while driving, so I was staying out of boost to avoid that problem. This hasn't ever happened before so it caught me a bit off guard...
I thought blow by from the rings could case crankcase pressure to increase, but I guess the PCV system stuff is the first go. Need to run a check valve first I guess.
