Recaros are made for skinny little racecar drivers. Glad to see the progress, I'll be dropping by on Friday to check it out, I have wheels for your alignment if you want. Ed, have you considered doing these wheels?
I think they would look great on your car. I just got a set for Laz,they are inexpensive and 13 pounds for a 15x8
Curious to see how it aligns once its on the rack at AR.

As you know I am not a beanpole either. The only racing seat I found that was truly comfortable for my not inconsiderable behind and wide shoulders was the Racetech RT4000W. That is a comfortable seat. They make a non homologated version for street cars too. Good luck getting it to fit even with some major surgery. that said the aluminum seats aren't that bad unless you like long road trips. Cheap too. If you dont need a one piece race seat then you have more options

My marred seat is super comfy, more so than my stocker with foamectomy, for grown men of proper size. Skinny little 140lb 5'6 racecar driver sized people have told me it isn't comfortable, but I am not concerned about their comfort.

I've been fighting this seat thing for like 3 years and I've come to the conclusion that there is no such thing as a comfortable "dual use" seat that fits properly in a Miata if you weigh more than about 175lbs or you are taller than about 5'8".
According to the 7-11 I'm 5'8" and several threads in the "Insert BS here" section would probably call me obese, but I can fit in the older Sparco Sprint and the newer Sprint 5. The seat bucket isn't what gets me, its the upper because apparently I have broad torso/shoulders or something. The newer Sprint 5 is a bit snug but manageable and I had to open up my Sprint with a 4wd high lift jack to fit my ribcage into the seat (don't laugh) but that bastard has me locked in and going nowhere. I just wish I could find sliders for it that didn't put my helmet into the hard top.

6'2 188 here, chest is 42-44. You should find a marrad seat to sit in. They took a Recaro (I believe a Pole Position) and upsized it. Sliders, sub strap openings, shoulder strap openings high enough for real men to use. Made in Murrika!

Ah. I'm only 5'7" ish and 170, so shorter and squattier lol
It looks really, really good. But it's $1000 by the time I spec it with the miata sliders and red stitching :P
Gonna stick with the sparco for now. Trying to keep this cost down to what I NEED to spend. After we sort out our housing situation (are we buying? Are we renting? WTF???) then I'll start changing stuff for preferences instead of needs. For now, I'll be throwing the stock passenger seat in and running the Sparco driver seat.

Alignment:
I checked out the alignment specs on 949's site and plan to go with the Dual Duty alignment specs. I checked with our service dept here at the dealer and they said they'll 4-wheel align it to my specs for $50. Is there any reason I shouldn't jump on that?

I believe that was the alignment I was running and it was great... until I thought I was being clever and randomly adjusted the height on my FCMs, thus fubaring my alignment.

Iono if I understand the question.
Adrenaline Racing quoted me $195 and I'm sure they'll do an awesome job but I'm having a super hard time swallowing an alignment at that price. I'm no pro, I just need a decent alignment. Is it dumb to pass that up in favor of my dealership saying they'll do it for $50? I mean, they don't know Miatas, but they do alignments all the time and they know how to use the machine... and It's $50. I know it won't be as good, but I think it will be good enough for me.
Just want you guys to call me an idiot if I'm being one, that's all.

Just seems to me like it's a no brainer to take advantage of the fact that I work at a dealership and they will hook me up. Although, I want you to be able to drive it fully aligned for the week I'm gone. I'll text you about it.
Can you bolt a passenger seat to the drivers side sliders you have under the sparco?
Indeed.

I want to come see them before I head out of town. How long would it take to get them in? I'm trying to think of a time when the car and the wheels will be in the same place..... hmm....
Will probably have to wait until after I get back in town. NBD.
