stripes are from a bad paint job. I haven't seen the msm grey in person but im guessing its a metallic paint job.

The metal flakes are uneven... making your paint striped.

What? No. The stripes are from the stripes.

Yes, from the dual flat black vinyl racing stripes.

OK.

The track day I had planned for next Thursday sold out. I'm on a waiting list, but I'm not particularly optimistic. I didn't sign up sooner because I wasn't completely confident I'd be ready, but now that I'm ready, I can't get in. Sad.

I will be keeping my hood (lol) and swapping the trunk back, keeping only the spoiler. I'll be swapping my driver door back on and putting my old door cards back in. My spoiler will have ghost stripes. I will deal with it.

I will then be pulling my exhaust apart to find my exhaust leak. Can't WAIT to get that fixed. Once my exhaust leak is fixed, I will schedule dyno tuning at English Racing. If CSTG had EMS-4 tuning capabilities, I would have had it tuned by now.

That is all for now.

On the bright side: If I don't get in it will make it much easier to fork out the monies for the tune, and will give me time to work on my car. There's always a bright side... Then I can do a last minute track day August 18, and it'd be only $200.. That still would give me 2 weeks to fix any problems before the trip to Miatas at MRLS.

You could always try clay bar, 2k grit wet sand, the area and blend it a little with the other paint, and then use a fine polish to get the striped area closer to the surrounding paint.

You are making me want to take my top off, I'm just to scared of the 110º sun/heat right now.

Well, they had offered me a spot but I'd already paid for the BMW club event on August 18th so I ended up just going and spectating a bit. Rode in Martin's car for a session. Seriously impressive, that little Laz.

Took a couple pics the other day on a drive up in the hills.

I know they kinda suck. But whatever. Taken with my phone.

It's only too rough if you're too low I enjoy that aspect of the road. I mean, if it were glass smooth I would probably enjoy it more, but the roughness of it is part of its character IMO.

Need to fiddle with the dampening in those Brohlins Mike. That is a great driving road.

Yup. Since I'm USNA '85, I never miss an opportunity for a put down.

Lol.

Bought another totaled car. This one's going to be a project. It's also going to be a keeper.

It's also not a Miata.

******* sweet! I have the stock radiator and headlights if you need them. I have the Golf xenons and Euro Audi S4 intercooler on my TDI. That may be a pricy rebuild depending on engine damage.

*edit* also I have the VCDS cable if you want to check for errors or recode anything in the CECM.

I restored my wife's MB 380SL. That provided a lifetime's fill of working on German "engineering."

Good luck.

And, yes, I am a Bosch K-Jetronic expert with all the tools. Thanks for asking.

Jeff, damned if you aren't the most helpful guy ever.

MT.net FTW.

I am hoping that the damaged body parts are included, as they often are in these types of auctions. I will salvage what I can. I'm sure I'll need a new radiator though. RockAuto has radiator and A/C condensor and bumper cover for about $500 shipped.

Either way, will have to pick it up and see what it has.

I'm not excited about that part... but I've wanted a sportwagen TDI for a long time, and to own one outright... awesome.

NEED to sell this Kia now. NOW.
