Rebuild all the salvage Miatas! ASS!
German engineering isn't that bad. It is just trying to figure it out how the hell everything is bolted/clipped/snapped together the first time you do a repair or install.
I can take the front bumper/radiator/intercooler off in about 30 minutes now that I know how to do it.

Lol.
Bought another totaled car. This one's going to be a project. It's also going to be a keeper.
It's also not a Miata.

My biggest concern is knowing what all I need. I mean, at this point it looks like I'm missing the whole front end. I need a diagram of the whole front end, like out of a parts book showing an exploded view of everything.
This is gonna be a huge project, but I'm anticipating I'll own the car for around $7k ish when it's all said and done, so it'll be worth it.

I need some advice from you guys.
The auction is now calling back saying that the winning bid amount didn't meet the buyer's reserve and I can now make a counter offer.
This is BS. Doesn't say anywhere on the auction that there's a reserve or anything.
Advice? Anyone have any experience with this?

It was listed just like any other listing.
They told me I could counter offer, so I offered $250 more than the winning bid and said that was absolutely ridiculous and that was my max.
Filed a complaint with BBB because they really need to label reserve auctions. Hopefully they do something about it eventually.
The car is up for auction again, and I'm bidding again. Ready for round 2.

No. It says NOWHERE on the listing or when it goes across the block that there is a reserve. You don't find out until it goes into pending award status AFTER the auction. It's not right.
Here's hoping I win it for less the second time

oh I thought you were going through copart. nvm
iaai blows. some locations don't tell you that they have a zero day holding policy, and you end up having to pay like 500 in fee's after a few days of the car waiting for pickup/towing.
that's always fun. be aware of them, they are terrible

I'm officially moving this to the build thread section, because mod.
Also:

Oh, cause I have them. Yes, I filmed vertically.

3rd gear:
4th gear:
5th gear:
Results were 25x hp, and 22x tq @ 12psi. I think it was 252 and 225. We weren't too excited, since the PO's tuner (NOT TSE) wouldn't give up the password for the AEM for his shitty tune. Granted it ran the crank sensor, cam sensor, coils, fans, idle valve, etc, but it was super conservative and rich on tip in. Not exactly some race winning exotic tune.
Andrew was EXTREMELY kind to send Ed a base tune we can get it running with, and our tuner can tune off of. For those of you who don't know AEM, you have the option of entering the password to view and edit the current tune, or pressing the "clear all" button and restarting with nothing in any of the menus. Not something we wanted to try at 7:30pm.
Also, anyone notice the smoke? Yeah. The videos are in order (3rd, 4th, 5th) of the runs we did, and the smoke seems to go away. My guess is the wesico pistons finally warmed up and fully sealed as the smoke seems to go away by the 5th videos.
At the very least, we were pleasantly surprised at the mid to low 11s for AFRs. With the smoke it generates we were all expecting mid to low 10s.

I believe he plans on tuning this psi's spark map and using it as his low boost setting. I'm guessing in the 260hp range with much more drivability and gas mileage.
He's hoping for a high boost setting, just cause, in the 300+ range.

I'm going to need new rear tires in about a month or two.
dual boost is FTW
I always loved the idea of having a street friendly base pressure wg spring, like 10-12psi, and an ebc wired through a switch with properly tuned CL boost settings, say 15-20psi, or if you're an animal and hate your tires and your drivetrain, 25+psi "Kill Mode" setting.
This setup probably hasn't even woken up yet. Y'all should come down here and we should tune it on corn running ALLOFIT

It's worth mentioning that these numbers are 100% uncorrected. It was 95 degrees. Adding standard SAE correction takes it up to I think 265 and 230. Not that it matters, but worth mentioning.
Andrew sent me the new map. It's not exactly a base map though, it's the "highest numbered" map he could find for my car (I'd assume that means the last iteration of the tune when he tuned it). So, it SHOULD already be somewhat tuned for my setup.
Neat.
Hopefully that's the case. I don't have a way to find out until we go to the dyno again, although I guess I could download the software and plug in my netbook and see if it works. But I'd rather not have to tow it to the dyno if, in fact, it borks it.
I'm probably going to do the GTI front end

Need to win it, for reals, first though.
