Or cracked block.

Busted factory oil warmer is another theoretical possibility, but IIRC this engine doesn't have it hooked up.

Block or head is cracked. Tear it all down, move the parts to a fresh block/head, and carry on.

That's the long term plan. I need to track down another 94 block now to use.

You recently had the head worked on, correct? Surely you can swap the rods/pistons, other non-oem components(oil pump?), and maybe even bearings from this block into another. Get away with just getting new rings?

Does it have to be a block with a port on the driver side? If you're coming to the area, there's a dude I know who has two NB blocks/cranks and a VVT head to get rid of.

No it doesn’t. I’d get the freshest block vs some ultra old janky 94 just for the ports

Well, pull the galley plugs and those janky ports can be cleaned when hot tanked :3

If you take apart and clean/hot tank/re-clean and then clean again, then measure and then clean yet again just for good measure, then sure

Consider having the block magnafluxed and the head checked with dye penetrate. One of em has to be good and would definitely save some dough. I'd guess it's the head that's cracked. Usually it's the head when it comes to engines with Al heads and iron blocks. If neither are cracked it may just be an issue with the machine work (assuming the deck surfaces were machined).

Motor is at the machine shop and I am waiting on them to finish overboring and honing. Then I will assemble the new built motor.

I also picked up something new to try out.
