Story time.
So once, when I still had my private off-leash space in Potrero. I had a pet-sitting job in the neighborhood and got to eat breakfast at "Just for you," the best breakfast place in SF. I sure hope that place is still there. Anyway, the only seat was at the bar next to these old ladies.
They were super cool, and we talked about all kinds of stuff. At one point my age came up(shut down that business to move in 09, so I was probably around 30,) they all immediately said they wished they were my age. I asked what they would do if they were 30, and the response was, "Take more risks, playing it safe all the time just doesn't cut it."
Suffice it to say, I took the advice to heart and haven't looked back.

So this bottom end has changed hands a couple times, and while I fully intended to stick it in my car after the inevitable block venting I was sure would have happened to my car by now, and even without that happening I fully intended to slap together into a complete injector-maxing build, I felt like sonofthehill deserved it more than I do. So stoked to see what kind of numbers it can put down.

Carlos I might have found another larger turbo for you to try out. I have to get home from vacation with it and test fit and see if it fits in my setups first though.

So much love on MT.net!

No idea where people get the wrong impression.

Back to the garage, maybe I can earn an 11 second built motor all seasons thread title.

Yes, I think you are right. I remember when Nigel bought it.
Are you suggesting that you know I need to crack the fasteners? It will only cost me a set of rod bolts and an upgrade to main studs.

When inspecting it a few things caught my eye as having been put together by someone more thuroug than me.

I've seen "clean" engines put together way out of spec, just saying.
And if the rod bolts aren't stretched I don't see why you can't re-use

Yes, but if we sow the seeds of doubt, he'll check the bearing clearances AND buy ARP main studs for it.

Ok phukit, I was just trying to clean an impossible area. I will risk not knowing the original length of the rod bolts, instead of all the clearances and gaps.

Thats the way to do it. Throw the motor in and just run all of it.

No way for him to know if they are stretched or not.

They don't appear to have been run. I will loosen them with my beam wrench and see if any of them have a torque that stands out.

I would either run then as is, or replace them. No need for anything in the middle.
