Unfortunately I can't stand auto credit card payments, maybe I can slip Vlad some cash to cover a 5 year membership. But until then, no nice pic for me.
Slowly but surely, also a rare look at my charge piping.

No pictures yet but I think Pat is right. When I was checking my valve clearances I found a spot that is difficult to turn past. It almost completely jams and I needed a huge cheater bar to spin past every revolution. Something is clearly making contact in the bottom end. I am surprised that the starter had no problem spinning it up to speed.

Upon closer inspection there does seem to be some evidence of detonation.
Is this detonation damage or FOD?
Here's a different one that looks more like detonation, and last a clean one
I am not missing any screws AFAIK.
Oh well, I will have the machine shop clean them all up to match. I also broke 3 cam bearing bolts, half of them are sheared half way through, like the PO over torqued them So I guess the shop can drill and helicoil them for me.
Wish me luck on quick service.

I am far from being an expert, but that looks like FOD to me, its much too consistant. How does the piston look in that area? How do the valves and valve seats look in that chamber? Be careful, head repairs become head work very quickly, its a fairly slippery slope.
I will say that when I googled for cam cap specs, they were listed as XX ft/lbs rather than XX in/lbs. I bought a FSM for the BP engine and an in/lb torque wrench after that. How do your cam caps look? Hopefully they weren't distorted to the point where they would need to be line honed, but I don't know how sensitive the BP is to these types of things.
Good luck and god speed.

I didn't lose any bits of the compressor wheel? The machinist thought it looked like broken spark plug bits may have done it at one time. He is going to cut it away and make it so all the combustion chambers match.
Super reasonable, quoted me 250 for the valve job, machining and to fix the broken bolts. Said it should be ready by Tuesday.

Looks like cyl 4 has a low compression rod! Cool that the pistons seem to have been ok, that was my experience as well when I bent stock rods long time ago. However unlike you, after I bent 2 rods, I spray another 20 bottles of nitrous through it, then turbo'd it for a year @ 17 PSI boost. LOL
GL getting it all back together! Also I like that charge pipe routing...
