The B13 has a 250k GA16DE. 250k when the odometer stopped working
we're going to clean it up a bit, get good (by lemons rate) suspension, strip it completely and do 400 laps every race. Didn't want an SE-R because a) they are expensive b) lemons judges hate them

If the Sentra runs good and reliable, we'll just turbo it.

And it's easy to find a clean miata shell but I'm not swapping parts to another shell anymore. Been there, done that. I'll just clean up what I have and maybe get widebody kit (although don't really have street tire options for a widebody kit)

It is hard as **** to find a clean shell in the north east. They also will sell for a premium to. I know that when FRTFun was giving away his old clean shell for free I really considered taking it. Had I owned a truck and could have towed just the shell back east I would have.

I also have a special requirement of 90-92 shell because I can't register it as historic otherwise. Has to be 20 years or older.

Anyways, I don't care. Car runs ******* fantastic and doesn't need anything. I'm going to get the 949 racing crank pulley, pimp out my fuel system, duct the radiator and track it a couple of times a year.

So I have a coolant leak and it appears to be coming form the stock oil-water cooler (???).
Of course I have a spare in my garage so no big deal. Just sucks that I did an oil change... there goes $25.

block used to be white, now it's a nice caramel-white-****-yellow color with oil streaks. aw yeah. oil leaked from vave cover gasket once when I didn't install it correctly.

I have to take the oil cooler off -> have to drain oil. I'm not re-using the oil. I'm cheap but not that cheap. Well... I may just put it in my jeep

oil ends up in the oil pan, not the oil filter; gravity dictates this (in mother america at least). You'll lose a tiny bit at best as youre unscrewing the filter.

I thought cars were 25 to be historic in VA, or is that just exempt from emissions?

You are correct for VA, but my cars are registered in merry-land.

There are also limits on what you can do with a car with "historic" tags. I do not think those requirements are ever actually enforced though. Fairfax Cops can be dbags though, so it would not surprise me if they ever messed with you about them.

You can't say you're going to work when you get pulled over in MD. I did that once by accident and got a warning for it. The requirements are very, very vague. And the license plate looks exactly like a normal MD plate (unlike LOOK-AT-ME VA Antique tags) so I don't ever get harassed for it.

Once, in Vienna, cops were chilling by a stop sign (Courthouse Rd, ******* speedtrap ). I pulled up to the intersection and one of them looked at my car (no front license plate), then walked around the car, saw my MD tags and frowned. **** yeah can't ticket me for that.

I also got a parking ticket (!!!!) in DC for not having a front tag. I wrote them a letter saying they wrote me up for a different violation (i got written up for "car does not confort DC standards"). They responded 4 months later with a 2-page letter. I felt good about enough by wasting government money so I just paid the $50 fine at that point.

Finally, both of our lemons cars are registered as historic. The Stanza was, in fact, driven to Summit Point in July. That car has no lights, windows (except windshield), interior, seats, wipers, turn signals, anything. It does have brake lights and a cage, that's about it. I love historic tags and I love Maryland for it.

The trick, really, is to drive slow. In Maryland (cameras), in VA (******* cops), everywhere.

All this cop talk and how easy you ****** have it sounds like a fairy tale.
Having lived in CA for basically ever, I don't even know how it feels not to have Hitler reigning over your car related activities.

*sigh*

Oh well

I think the oil in the filter has something to do with the check valve. I could be wrong.

I have a couple of those oil cooler gaskets in my tool box, I get them every time I've bought a gasket kit. Problem is I have a 1.6 with no oil cooler. Need one?

What? I just have a coolant leak. It looked like it was coming from the water/oil cooler. I just took it off and it looks perfectly fine. Filled it with water and no signs of leakage... so, I'm confused a bit.
