so, my fails top tips for people trying to start a freshly built engine
1) dashboard has a connector near blower motor. plug it in. or your oil pressure gauge will read 0
2) don't forget to put the fuel pump relay back in
3) don't forget to put the lower timing belt cover on or you won't be able to set base timing
4) if you're baller and using a Protege 36-1 timing wheel - keep in mind that it doesn't clear the lower timing belt cover and will make a noise. I set my timing and threw away the timing belt cover. problem = solved

Unfortunately the car with the orange fire sleeve will not be there. It is a pita to drive long distances because of how the race seat is fixed. I get horrible leg cramps after about 2 hours of driving. I will actually be installing cruise control soon I think so I can take it on long trips.

on the 1.6 the actuator has vacuum line, some electrical connector and a throttle cable going to the accelerator. that's it. pretty sure you could mount it inside the interior if you wanted to.

There are a few other things. You need the CC switch on the dash, side arm things to set CC, the computer that actually holds it, a switch or two near the pedals, and the actuator. M.net has some write ups about adding it. The problem with the 1.6 cars are not all of them were prewired for CC. Some have it and some do not. As far as I can tell all the 1.8 cars are already wired for it so you just have to plug everything in.

all that ---- goes under the dash. the only thing that normally lives under hood is the actuator - and that you can relocate anywhere.
the $500 1.6 car (technically this car...) came with cruise so i have all the bits and pieces. I also have 4 sets of harnesses (91, 91, jap 94, 96) so I can probably cobble something together. the cruise never worked, though.
I want to see how you do it

If the current car had CC at one time then all the wiring under the dash should be there and it should be relatively easy to reinstall and get it working. It really is a godsend on long drives on the interstate.

I'm still teething the car. 50 miles so far. Missed my alignment today, but rescheduled for friday, which I also took off. Sat/Sunday is autox and first track day is on May 19.
Here's a 4th gear log (or 5th?). I'm running the low-boost wastegate right now, no boost control.
