Bahhhh! So I'm trying to retime the motor right now. The crank is at TDC but the intake cam marker isn't lining up with the timing cover. Its slightly off like 2-3*. Is it fine?

Make sure the slack in the belt is between the crank pulley and the intake cam, so that when you release the tensioner it takes it up there. There's an extra tooth's worth of slack, and if you get it between the crank and exhaust pulleys then it will be wrong after you tension it.

I really want to go kill something right now. I got the car put back together and it didn't start....

It just cranks over, gives me a glimmer of hope of starting and thats it. I really don't know what I did wrong. But obviously the timing is off. so tomorrow I start over.

Im gonna be honest with you. I don't know what that is.

 

Hook up TunerStudio, go to "diagnostics and high speed loggers", set "logger type" to "composite", and click "start". (might need to click "capture to log file" as well, I don't remember) Try to start the car, then turn the logging off.

It will display three lines in the graph, which are the logic levels of the crank and cam signals and one indicating sync errors. Post the log file.

Crank sensor signal is all fucky. Make sure its gapped correctly. should be a business card thickness away from the trigger teeth.

Cam signal looks fine.

Ok. Well something is wrong with your crank sensor.

 

How? The car ran before I took it apart? If the trigger wheel is flipped would there be no signal at all?

 

I dont know how. But Its not right.

You might still get a signal with the flipped wheel.

You know flipping the wheel is super easy. 4 m6 bolts and the alternator belt.

 

ok. Ill flip it and see what happens
