The Current Events, News, and Politics Thread
It really tickles my cockles that the party calling the opposing candidate a "threat to democracy" just peer pressured the publicly elected nominee to drop out of the race so that their elite could cherry pick his replacement, and don't see the irony in any of it.

Unrelated, man, the e-sleuths are on the case:
Everyone suspected that Biden would be withdrawing at some point in the near future.
I'm not sure how many people had a high degree of confidence that Biden's withdrawal would be announced specifically on Sunday June 21, to the point where they set up a lot of overtime and scheduled a lot of programming changes specifically to accommodate that evet.

X has everything. Harry Sisson to Catturd. Left, right, center, more interested in burritos than the presidential race. Safe to say it was a liberal haven prior to Musk, but now you get every opinion. And the dregs too, looking to tittilate, make money, enrage, pander...allofit. Funny thing--when you curate a few content creators on X, you generally get more and better information much sooner than the MSM.
I still feel bad for the others that ran and all of the donors who donated millions to them. It is really a shame to believe that much in a corrupt system. I don't know how many are smart enough to actually learn from it.
I had a politics professor back in 1978(!) who told us that, essentially, national-level politicians are professional liars and dissemblers. They don’t care about me or you or starving children or peace or anything - they care about the next election, and tell lies that they hope more people would like to believe so they’ll vote for them.
At the time, I thought it was the most cynical thing I had ever heard.
Now I think that it’s not cynical enough.

...with freedom and justice for all.
When you violate that part in a wholesale fashion it really makes me question the reason I'm pledging allegiance in the first part, unfortunately. Freedom for the party elites on both sides and justice for pretty much nobody.

Who is "Jeb" in this context?
Presumably, Brainey is referring to Kimberly Cheatle, who resigned as Director of the US Secret Service.
Cheatle has faced particularly intense criticism following the Secret Service's decision not to engage Thomas Crooks until after he fired several shots at former President Trump, nor to place agents on the rooftop on which Crooks was located.
Prior to that event, she has been an outspoken supporter of DEI policies, making statements such as "we need to attract diverse candidates and ensure that we are developing and giving opportunities to everybody in our workforce, and particularly women," which the agency has doubled-down on, stating that “Our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion ensures that we attract the best talent, fostering a robust and effective team that reflects the society we serve.”
Cheatle worked for the SS for twenty-seven years in a variety of roles, including as a field operative assigned to Joe Biden's protective detail during the Obama administration.
Prior to joining the SS, she worked for the Pepsi Cola company, after having graduated from college with a degree in sociology.
Although she has had sexual intercourse with a number of men and women, and has never married, no evidence is known to support the assertion that Cheatle has ever worked as a prostitute.
