Former Senior High teacher gets 30 days for rape of student

A Yellowstone County district judge Monday ordered a former Senior High teacher convicted of raping a 14-year-old female student who later committed suicide to spend 30 days in jail....

Stacey Rambold stands in the courtroom Monday after sentencing by Judge G. Todd Baugh. Rambold received 15 years in prison, with all but 31 days suspended, for sexual intercourse without consent. He will also get credit for one day already served.

A Harvard Study titled "Would Banning Firearms Reduce Murder and Suicide?" looks at figures for "intentional deaths" throughout continental Europe and juxtaposes them with the U.S. to show that more gun control does not necessarily lead to lower death rates or violent crime.

In fairness, that was not a "Harvard study."

This comes up in a few of my other forums regularly. It's long been known that gun ownership has very little correlation to suicide numbers.

Methods of suicide are driven by societal norms. We're not talking about "cries for help" here either... we're talking about people who are on a mission. Only 1in45 suicide attempts are successful IIRC. Those who are INTENT upon ending their life will do so in whatever manner their society has found "acceptable". In American, it's often guns, but numerous studies have been done on other 1st world "westernized" countries and have found that after implementing strict gun control laws, guns were use less often in suicide due to lack of availability, but the numbers of suicides didn't drop... they just switched methods.

The anti-gunners would have you believe that eliminating guns would reduce suicide by claiming that suicides are "impulse decisions" and that the immediate availability of a firearm causes more successful suicides attempts. It's tough to disprove until you look at the studies done in other countries like ours (Canada/GB/Aus) that have implemented strong gun control and seen zero effects on suicide numbers. Sure, suicide-by-gun goes down, but it's simply that people who would have used a gun simply turned to another method.

Read here:
Harvard School of Public Health » Means Matter
I've actually clicked on the majority of the links and read through all the "Means Matter" stuff. As I read through stuff, it looks like they're trying really hard to back up the thought that "less guns would equal less suicide" but never get there, so they stick close to "less access to guns will probably mean less suicide attempts with a gun"... which again, is hard to argue with.

Wouldn't really matter anyway. For example, "Climate Change" is laughable and provably so, and yet the power's that be around the world are still working on their carbon credit market.

...sorry for mixing government failures...one failure at a time, right?

The IRS is not only clamping down on any 501 C4 with "Tea" in their name, they give a big pass to those who use and employs stolen SSN's.
