Immigration fails under the fed. So can the feds force those cities into following federal law? Legally, I dont know. But they can pull back federal funding because the cities arent following federal law. That is a large chunk of change.

 

I recall an article that said in the Dem controlled states basically his threat to withhold funding was a pipe dream. Obviously in Rep held states the Governor/Legislature has more direct impact (can't find the article now).
