The chart is left to right, more government vs. less government. they show far left as communist, then probably far right would be libertarian as an equal.

Problem is, people have more-or-less accepted the concept that less government means: hate groups that control all aspects of government and kill everyone and that nazism is the poplar opposite of communism. really there's little difference between communism and nazism/facism...

no private property vs. pretend private property.
government holds total economic/political power vs. government holds total economic/political power.
huge inequalities of income and standards of living vs. huge inequalities of income and standards of living.
"for the greater good" vs. "the public good"

It's all statism at it's worse. it's all totalitarian.

Charts like that are actually another tacit of the Left, "the leftists have been propagating the false dichotomy that the choice confronting the world is only: communism or fascism—a dictatorship of the left or of an alleged right—with the possibility of a free society, of capitalism, dismissed and obliterated, as if it had never existed."

The chart is not less govt vs. more government. It assumes large government as a given.

Thus, it is correct to place Nazisim at the far right, as the only full-scale example of national socialism to date was in fact very much enamored with an appeal to tradition, rejection of "others," etc.

Wait, you actually believe there is private property now? Sure maybe your electronics and weapons.

But try not paying your car registration, try not paying the property taxes on your home............it won't be "your" property for long.

So the polar opposite is 100% total control of your life and property is 100% total control of your life and property? this is a one-dimensional chart with 4D chess problems...

On a one-dimensional political scale:
"Far left" is supposed to mean the most economic intervention, but the most personal freedom, and we all know that's not communism...
"Far right" is supposed to mean the most economic freedom, but the least personal freedom, and we all know that's not nazism...

On the two-dimensional scale: the most economic & personal intervention is statism, which both communism and nazism is. The least ecomonic & personal intervention is libertarianism.

That sounds very much like an opinion.

Words and phrases are "supposed to mean" whatever the person making the observation thinks. For instance, the term "Abortion" means "premeditated murder" to some people, but it means "reproductive freedom" to others.

To me, "economic freedom" means that I would get to keep what I earn, and decide for myself how to spend it. But to some people, "economic freedom" means that they are free to take what I earn, or dictate how it will be spent.

Given the constraints of the two-party system as it exists in present-day America, yes. At a national level, voting is mostly about the chosen form of the destructor.

Relatively few Americans actually want more liberty and less government. That would mean that other people might be allowed to make bad decisions. You need to have big government in order to be able to control other people's lives (who they marry, what they smoke, how much of their stuff you're entitled to, which parts of the Bill of Rights actually apply to them, etc.)

Things may be different in East Virginia, but here in America, a lot of people got unreasonably excited when the wife of the son of the son of the daughter of the King (deceased) of England got knocked up.

Anglo-American relations are weird.

So, this is damn interesting:

Not really sure how to feel about this one.

Posit: does a police officer have the same duties and obligations as a soldier, specifically with regard to the obligation to engage in activities which are likely to result in death or serious injury when necessary in order to serve the greater good?
