Many 2871s I've seen can be had for even less than the 2560r. Just need to locate the right dealer. When I use to work parts we could get a 2871 for less than the 2560. Some sellers pass on the savings to the consumer.

DNA54 05-18-2015 04:20 PM

For a silvia replacement I mean this particular one : T25 T28 T25/T28 TURBOCHARGER NISSAN 200SX S13 S14 TURBO | eBay

just to boost the car again until I finally got €€€ enough for a bb gt2560r

TURBINA TURBO GARRETT GT2560R SU DOPPI CUSCINETTI 330 CAVALLI ORIGINALE garrett | eBay

I know that there is a little price difference between the 2560 and 2680, but I'm scared about driveability (it's my daily car).
2860+long tube manifold equals late spool? As it is now the car is undriveable, as the boost comes only after third gear and 5k rpm...

18psi 05-18-2015 04:26 PM

a proper 2860rs or 2871r reaches peak or near peak torque between 3500-4000.

So no, it would not be laggy. And would put out close to 350-400whp

It's not the same as your chinacharer, despite the similar nomenclature

that's a good thing.

this is a choice I have to make once. This is why I was looking for a 2560: good for maybe 300hp but with good power under 4k rpm, just a little bit chocked at high revs.

I'm so unsure, even for the choice of the temporary chinacharger :crx:

18psi 05-19-2015 09:09 AM

the bottom line though is you can't really compare chinacharger to the real deal in terms of spool and torque onset. they're quite different. looks like you're injector limited anyway though

Corky Bell 05-19-2015 09:43 AM

If not a competitive event, the 2560 is a pretty sweet all around turbo.

Indeed. the rx8's are 100% opened from 4500 rpm until redline.

next step are ev14 610 or ID 750 (I haven't choose yet) and dw200 or similar pump

Btw, a few days ago I understood why the boost was too late and was too low on the dyno: the wastegate itself was stucked open
chinachargers...

Hammer + screwdriver and it's (more or less) working again. 1.2 bar from 5k rpm on. Good power and torque btw, virtual dyno says near 300hp.

downside of the medal: yesterday night when I was wot on 4th gear (remember: 6 spd + 3.636 torsen) and went in full boost suddenly I heared an awful cracking noise, the rpm went from 5k to 7k instantly and the shift knob jumped to neutral on her own...

this was the noise:

towed the car, and today I inspected...

Sorta, there is minor work that needs to be done to run an RX7 housing, but if you break another housing you will either have to gusset another Miata carrier or go with an RX7 diff. Unless you want to spend some big money on something else more robust.

Got it.
Sadly my workplace was just the open space, but a friend of mine lent me his pit for two days, just to build the exhaust line. Everything else was make without a garage, under the sky...
One day, maybe... I will buy a garage.

Finally I made my choice...
GT2560R with inconel shaft.
-turbine .60 cold side, .62 hot side A/R
-51mm (2") inlet/outlet flanges (garrett ones)
-0.9mm oil restrictor
850 shipped :yippee:

I have to adapt someway the feed line, because now is a banjo bolt one, but nothing difficult.

I also find another housing, but I'm waiting for the side oil seals for over a week! :vash:

Not the arm itself, but the bush.

Yesterday I clocked the turbo and checked the actuator: feels like a 7 psi unit.

I also began to weld a new manifold to head flange because mine is warped, and there's a little leak even whith a new oem gasket..

The only issue: oil line.
I need to connect somehow an 8mm copper pipe to the restrictor.
This is what I could find

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1434700791

Terrible, isn't it?
And heavy as hell.

Brass is not as strong as steel and it is better to use less adapters when possible. Each is a possible point of failure.

You are planning to use copper pipe to supply oil to the turbo?

Yes, if you watch the first two pages of this topic, you can see my feed line.

Sixshooter: I know that... the restrictor itself is brass.
I'm finding a different solution, but it's difficult to find npt stuff in Italy

The wastegate port cast is not bad at all, I think to leave it as-is for the moment. If a creep problem appears, I will port it.

It's the titanium heat wrap (15 meters are just enough for this manifold)
The ties... they comes with the wrap

News: I tried the new advance table for like one gear, and it knocked... back to the previous one for now.

I also destroyed the compressor wheel, now the turbo is at the rebuild shop

it's like a whistle that follows the speed, and it's present only when I apply torque (a little bit, a lot... didn't change)

About a couple mounths ago the same whistle started from the primary shaft of the gearbox, this noise follows rpm's...

What the hell it's happening?

Seems like it's a bad bearing.
The worst thing is that noone can change it.

Another bad thing: this turbo is too little.
Wastegate shut: 250+ kpa at 4000 rpm and down to 220 at redline.
No huge power gain compared to 200 kpa
