I understand everything has a price. I'd be willing yes, but likely not able

I would like to see something similar available later though

Props just because I like the use of the linear actuator.

I finally got a video of the active hood vent...

Please note that the video is edited for time.

And, now that I am pretty much done - with the exception of a couple minor tweaks on my VE Table - here is my engine bay, in its latest incarnation.

I am driving and enjoying the hell out of the car...

Looking nice. Have you measured how much your vehicle weight has increased with all those goodies (plus change in weight distribution)?

Please explain guys... What the hell kind of sorcery is this?

I used to push 18.5 psi on my supercharger, and the car had power. Impressive acceleration.

My days (and weeks) were pretty busy for a while, so I was barely driving the car on a guesstimate setup. It felt very good.
So I had a chance to tweak the settings based on info and experience I had been gathering as I drove.

I set the HP-LP bypass at 4500 rpm, and the LP bypass at 4600, with proper hysteresis values.
Removed some timing from the 2000 - 2900 RPM band (heard some knock at about 2300 RPM @ 10 psi)
Added a bunch of advance at idle and low load areas - makes it much "zingier" (around 20 deg)
Touched up the VE table for smoother transition between cells.
And, roughly divided the open loop boost duty table in three sections, to start low and increase with RPM and load...

Holy ****.

The car scared me at 11 psi. Eleven.
It definitely has more power at 11 psi with this turbo setup compared to 18.5 with the SC.
Acceleration is really impressive from 2K all the way to about 4700 or so, and then, it just gets ridiculous.
I found myself feathering the brakes at 200 Km.

My initial plan was cranking the boost to about 1.5 BAR (about 21 psi), but there is no way in hell I will do that.
Pretty scary as it sits now.

And, it is perfectly quiet - the car drives and accelerates like it's electric.

I can comfortably state this project IS a as successful as it is rewarding.
Damn.

Awesome!
That's how I felt too when I went from super to turbo. 10 PSI turbo > 10 PSI super.

Edit: ...10 PSI EFR + stock block = Hole in block

The sorcery is why we always laugh at mots SC miata owners. They think they're fast. They think
Congrats sir, now take some videos

I guess that adds new meaning to 'goes to 11' Amazing work on the car, and a great read.

Superchargers require significant horsepower to operate. You are finally getting some of that to the tires instead. It's all about efficiency.

THIS is what I've been waiting to hear but where's the video?
It saddens me that we might not be getting many more development updates...amazing work, nice that it is finally coming together the way you imagined it.

That, and elevated IAT / EGT levels...
The blower requires about 39 Hp under full power. High IAT means a tame advance table, and high EGT requires tons of fuel.
All of these factors come together, and mess with the overall power output.

Having driven a SC setup for 10 years, I now firmly believe a SC is best suited to a larger displacement engine at lower levels of boost.
A 4 liter V8 at 6 psi would be very sweet. A 1.8 like ours at 14, 16, 18 psi is not the most efficient path to take.
