Default gt2560r external wastegate. HOW TO WASTE MONEY FOR SPOOL

(build is done. I will add to the thread when I get time until i am up to date)

it all started with this 3 inch exhaust that I thought I was so cool for making(first picture) I was getting massive creep starting at 4500rpm. The 2nd picture shows the wastegate wired open. I still crept to 15 psi by 6k rpm.

After weighing every option, I decided that using the same turbo would be the best option. I bought it brand new last year and it has less than 1000 miles. So i ordered a V band In/out housing from atp turbo(3rd picture) to start my external wg quest

So this thread is about going external on a 2560?

Nothing wrong with that, and I wouldn't really call it wasting money either. I mean, an EFR would be better, but if you can't go that route, this should be cool.

Most are able to fix the creep with heavy porting tho..........ORRR just build the engine and not even worry about it

The build is done already. I wish I wouldve went efr but at the time i felt silly ditching a brand new turbo that I had just bought. When I build the engine ill just go to a gt28 or gt30 with a tial housing and everything will still line up

Yep, a 3071r at full tilt should make enough juice to shatter your driveline.

Post dyno plot. I bet it shoots past 200tq by 3300

Well, if the work is solid you can enjoy your build for a couple years and then sell it to help finance the EFR setup. Schedule a motor build in the middle of that timeline and you will have lots of fun.

turbine housing ceramic coated and valve cover powder coated while I waited for the manifold and DP to come in.

Went with a FAB9 garrett manifold and DP

Added a flex section and a 3 inch V band to the downpipe

I didnt want to recirc the EWG so my original plan was to aim it at the ground. Come to find out, with a 3" dp and the turbo in that location, there was no room to aim it downwards. With summer coming to an end soon, I wanted to get the car on the road ASAP. So I had gleasemanufacturing (where fab9 outsources their fab work) build me this simple little screamer pipe for a hood exit. He even sent ear plugs with it

Maybe I'm mistaken but the wastegate position appears to be in a poor position to prevent boost creep...

It doesnt creep. But i think the tiny turbine housing has a lot to do with that

Smack between cylinders 2 and 3?

You mistaken.

But regarding the WG "leg" cracking. Have them fab a gusset that welds in, the full inside radius of the leg.

It's actually on 3, bleeding off just 1 cyl, but from what I've seen that still works. The other concern is with the angle of it. But all this has already been discussed in the fab efr thread where we voiced these concerns.

So far only like 1 or 2 people actually ran these setups, and both at high boost so we still don't really know if it works properly or not. And none have ran them for long time so reliability is still up in the air too.

Hopefully neither is a concern, but I know that Ryan's car had ewg/screamer pipe set up just like this and it cracked in 2-3 weeks of hard use.

Oh you're right, Fab9 has no idea what they're doing.

This type of placement is the failaids:

I would gusset the WG elbow though, it just might actually work if you do. Not considering, its bolted to the most unbalanced from the factory motor in the world. Though it can be balanced to not crack everything you bolt to it.
