shlammed 07-02-2014 01:42 PM

you need ducting like the factory ducting, from the back of the intercooler to the radiator. on all sides.

Think of something like the plenum for a forced air furnace. you want that connecting the back of the intercooler to the rad.

Otherwise it would be like having floor registers with your forced air furnace, but no plenum getting the air to it. Extreme, I know but its the same mindset.

My Miata overheated with no under tray, and once I put the modified under tray back on (modified for IC piping) the overheating issues went away.

Impuls 07-03-2014 02:38 AM

Yeah, pretty much going to duct the big front mouth to the radiator and have 2 big fans on new radiator.

I'm installing the fans on the stock radiator tomorrow(if I don't bitch it due too heat). Just trying to think of ways to make it more reliable/long term as pertaining to wiring and constant on/temp controlled. I think constant on is the best choice. City traffic wise it'll pull air through the intercooler and radiator and "should" help with heat soak.

In other news heres a nice pull vidya

GoPro never does audio any justice.
The car is LOUD. I need to order one of those magnaflows. Just trying to figure out size. It'll give me some straight for the exhaust tip too. Mines currently burning my bumper :(

Impuls 07-03-2014 11:04 PM

Wired in my 2 fans and works great. 208F mean temp after heatsoak.

But. I'm on my 2nd GM IAT sensor of the last 2 weeks and it just failed. Weird.

It rained in Florida (imagine that) and I did a rolling clutch kick because road rage. Daymn, it was awesome.

BlackBandit 07-04-2014 01:23 PM

I am experiencing heat problems too and I have a master cooling setup. It only starts to rise when I'm boosting with the ac on. Once it's off the car has very low temps. Btw autocross in Orlando on sunday. I might be going

BrilloHeadBen 07-04-2014 02:29 PM

What club is running sunday?

BlackBandit 07-04-2014 02:33 PM

Mscc at the convention center. I'll be out there with my friend who is running a fd.

BrilloHeadBen 07-04-2014 02:45 PM

I've never run with Martin before but I hear they put on a good event. I'll probably no show, but if I do come I'll be there on the all-seasons. I'm too damn lazy to swap rims in the heat!

BlackBandit 07-04-2014 02:51 PM

Do it at night then lol and hopefully you can come out there. Sorry for the thread jack. Just letting locals know.

I'm thinking about installing my framerails tomorrow. But I dunno with this weather.
Also another interesting development, my radio trends to stay on for a few seconds after I turn the car off. Really nice when I want to hear the rest of a song :P I'm thinking I need to remove and clean my ignition cylinder.

Upgraded to MS2/extra 3.3.2 30mins ago.
I like it, it had a few hiccups with the settings being different.
Like the Conflict with additional injectors (pt2/4) error. That's all sorted out. And I had to use my crazy MAT correction settings though to be able to idle.
100F+ IAT @ idle heat soak sucks. No IACv sucks too.

Installing new radiator tomorrow.

I can't remember if the ms2 has a cruise control port but you can hook up the cruise control from the back of your speedometer and have the iacv activate at a certain mph. I have mine at 20mph for safe measure so I don't stall out on hard deceleration or when I put the ac on.

It's MS2PNP so it just uses the factory harness. But the MS circuit is damaged I have to send it in to get repaired. I just like driving it too much.

Surprisingly no, it's for not having a Florida license. :/

Also, I'm going to post in the spark blowout thread a replacement(from o'reilly) bosch 211 unit worked great until I drove for almost an hour yesterday. Need heatsink so bad. But now I can't go to the junkyard tomorrow.

Leafy 07-27-2014 09:01 PM

Dude. Did you know you have the power window snaps for a tonneau cover that people on miata.net can never find and would love to have? Shit, if you had manual windows I would have asked you how much so I didnt have to fab something myself, cause you know I got to have that tonneau cover for the extra rear downforce and stuff.

Same! I always assumed the previous owner did something stupid. The "bolt" on the side mirror along the door and the bullets on the dash were factory?

Leafy 07-28-2014 11:08 AM

Factory on cars that came with a tonneau cover.

EO2K 07-28-2014 11:29 AM

And on an NB no less. I've wanted a tonneau cover since I drove my dads TR6 with the tonneau

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1406561369

I'm not sure how much aerodynamic advantage it would give but it certainly makes the car a lot more tolerable to drive top down in the cold/mist/rain.

Impuls 07-28-2014 11:05 PM

I never understood tonneau covers. So weird.

I guess I should sell them, so that someone could enjoy them. No idea how to remove them though.

Impuls 07-28-2014 11:16 PM

I actually want to give a shout out to Track Dog Racing. I emailed just asking if they had a warranty or replacement program. I had MAJOR doubt but it's worth a try right?
Well I got this after we talked about what happened:
"I can offer you a one-time discount of 50% off on a replacement TDR-99M122 air splitter. "

Now, How's that for customer service/satisfaction!
I didn't really ask, bet, or argue. I'm highly impressed.
With the way my day has been going, constant driving around, dealing with FL state government trying to get a license, and my computer has Unmountable_Boot_Volume BSOD, this definitely brightens up my day.
Such appreciation.

Impuls 08-16-2014 05:14 PM

I met Mr. Mattman (Matt V2 Man) last night at the USF car show which turns out got huge since the last time I went.
I sadly didn't get on the dyno they had since I had no knowledge of them having it nor the cash on me.
But I did have an awesome time, haha.

Impuls 08-24-2014 01:45 PM

So I've been drag racing to see how fast the car is and I'm pretty pissed. Drag racing was never my thing especially with the Miata. But anyways

Went to the 1/8th mi Weds and did alright at 9.2s with a 2.0 60ft with ignition breaking up a bit but did giod with only 3000rpm @ 3-4psi launch, I didn't want to break anything.

I went to the 1/4mi last night and just did horrible. 15.5s passes, car would go into 2nd, and ignition breaking up a bit. Hell, even my 1/8th there was 10.1s!
Only hit 2 runs in since the line was so damned long.

Well, on my way home my car would only hit 10psi, O.o?
Tried a little this morning and still only about 10psi.

Hmmm time to check for leaks I guess but it doesn't seem like a leak

Alejo_NIN 08-25-2014 11:37 AM

is it moving where the snap ring is or where the bolt hold the cover to the back?

cause if the former, then that's relatively normal. if the former. then tighten the bolts

It's at the snap ring. It seems I can't get a currently sized PVC cap too leak test. So I'm going to get just a plug and a 4" coupler and try that. :/

I took aparty BOV today because it was EASY to push it open. It had a bad oring at the fitting I replaced and and I made the fitting fo as far as it would go (max setting?)
I dunno about these GFB bov's. But it seems to have effected a little. May be too tight though, on light accel then let off I get the flutter now. Oh wells

Poop, I was hoping the AC lines would be somewhat similar with the '99 and '04 compressors. Wrong. I'll have to fab some up to get it to work.
I went and looked at the lines the '99 lines the low side hardline bend would cover the '04 high side port.

18psi 09-01-2014 03:34 PM

I've never seen one like that, and we have a ton of NB2's here. All of them look the same or similar to the one on the left.

MSM compressor?
I know there's 2 different compressors

18psi 09-01-2014 07:26 PM

Hmm, maybe. I'll have to take a peek at one of the msm's we have.

if that's the case, that sucker looks a whole lot smaller (and I'm guessing its prob lighter too), might be a cool mod for us NB2 people.

If you need an 01 compressor, I haz one for sale btw. same size/style as the left one

Yeah! It's a whole lot lighter, it's awesome! The mounting points are different ever so slightly though. I mean I could just acquire the 99 mount. Since the block should be the same I think the difference is the mount bracket.

I wanted to get around to attaching the EBC and boost leak test things but..
Florida struck again.

But my A/C suction and discharge hoses are for only 99-00.

No problem man! Do you have custom lines to make it work though?
If I can get a scale I'll weigh them to show the difference.

18psi 09-02-2014 05:11 PM

the MSM lines that come with it wouldn't bolt up to the rest of the system?

I don't have the MSM lines :( The chassis lines are 99, I don't think they will work, the hard line of the fittings angle weird since the new compressor moves the ports pretty close to each other.
I should give it a try though.
