EGR pipe

Does anyone have pictures of how it clears the EGR pipe?

it is a very tight fit on most engines. If it interferes you can bend the pipe or replace the bottom nut with a button head bolt for extra clearance.

EDIT: It was an EGR question.

My feedback is that the instructions should mention that it doesnt fit well with egr and that modifications may be necessary.

We replaced the socket head bolt with a button head bolt in thst location to make a bit more space for the EGR pipe. Still a tight fit but better now.

The EGR fit on my 99 with 01 header. if you look at RevLimiter's pics, the footprint is thinner, plus using a lower profile button head bolt helps. It is tight for sure and I wouldnt be able to get you a very good pic in the back installed. The EGR is in physical contact with the outlet, but I was lazy, and didn't want to risk bending the EGR tube off the car and finding I botched it. I mounted the two 10mm bolts on the flange first, then tightened both ends down.

I would still recommend a little heat shielding around the EGR pipe, and a little shielding on the coolant hoses. on my old Mtuned kit, heat from the EGR had slowly worn these hoses and created a very small leak. QMax is positioned a little different that may have more sufficient air buffers, but better safe than sorry.

Overall a beautiful kit.

Just popping in to say I recently did an engine swap, with the fresh engine having a Qmax. 949's write-up and video on the install gave me the warm and fuzzies, I didn't even have to message Dan with a "OMG WHAT HAVE I DONE, WTF DO I DO NOW?!"

I had no issues putting the engine in the car with the Qmax installed on the back of the head. I don't have a fancy balancer either, just a regular chain and a jack placed on the back of the trans.

I just installed mine in my NA with the engine in the car. I have done 3/4 different spacers over the years, with a few installed in the car. I can 100% say I hate installing reroutes in a car. This reroute was a different story. It took about 15 minutes of very leisurely work to have the reroute installed. Reusing the stock stud is amazing, tool clearance was perfect. I'll never use another damn spacer again. It also fits fine with the FM ls coil bracket.

I just bought this kit and from the looks of it the supplied hose will have issues with clearance to meet up to the outlet on the radiator. I have a CXRacing aluminum radiator so it has the outlet in the factory location in front of the throttle body. The only pictures I can find in this thread of the kit installed is with the 949 supermiata radiator, and while it is a beautiful radiator, i'd rather not have to buy it since i already have a working radiator. It seems to look like the hose will end up kinking.

I can't wait to install the reroute though, it looks fantastic.

The hose reaches OEM style radiators just fine.

Installed this yesterday. Pretty easy install but I did have an issue with the clearance of the fm piping with the radiator hose like I thought. There was no possible way to not kink it with the supplied hose. Even with the extra hose I bought it's slightly kinked but not that bad.

The only way around this would to buy the supermiata radiator. It would have saved a lot of time and aggravation but I ended up making it work with the radiator I had.

Overall a great kit and I'm happy with it.

What S shaped hose is that, do you have a part number?

Dayco 71519. It comes as an m shape so you can just trim it as you need

Awesome! I was gonna head to an autoparts store and just look around until I found one that fit.

We have the Qmax in stock at GWR.

I have installed several reroute kits with FM turbo kits. When working with the setup shown below, I route the straight hose supplied with the kit inboard of the throttle inlet hose, then to the radiator fitting. Works great, every time. I'm sure I have a photo of this on my computer at home. I'll find one and post it up later tonight.

Thanks for the tip, order placed!!

Just a heads up for anyone installing this with OEM coils... I installed my Qmax while the head was off for a new head gasket. Like an idiot I forgot to put the bottom coil bolt and rubber grommet on before the completely assembled rear water neck. Then put the head back on. Doh!

FYI, Make sure you install the lower coil bolt before completely assembling and Installing the Qmax.

Second coolant temp sender

Has anyone replaced the bleeder valve on top with a coolant temp sender? Just want to make sure it doesn't cause any turbulence in the coolant flow.
