also... what pads would i use with those rotors on my '92? would 94+ miata pads fit?

No drawings, but at least one person made a set and put them on the car. PM him and see if he give you a copy of the drawings.

carrado rotors stock = about 120 bucks
Wilwood calipers (increased prices) = 320 total (160 each)
Pads = 50 dollars
Stainless lines? = 90? not sure
bracket estimate = 50-90 bucks


youre looking at generally in the range of 700 dollars for the whole deal. rusman offered this over at roadsterdrift.net but i dont know what happened.

i think im gonna go cheaper on this and just do 1.8 brake conversion using 01+ sport brakes

What about using a G60 Caliper? It is a 2 piston design and would probably fit with most wheels which fit a corrado g60.

Who is interested?

I've been considering the same....
I have a 1.8, so I just need the sport rotors??? Or do I need the brackets for calipers as well...?

Pretty sure he's right, the sport rotors are larger diameter than the standard 1.8's.

yea thats what i was thinking....and of course the stock 14's wont clear, but what about 15's??

series 2 lotus elises are 4x100 and use nice discs which are available in 2 piece designs.

does anyone know the max rotor thickness FD calipers can take?
22mm seems to the be factory quoted max, but if they could take 26mm id be set with a set of elise discs.

I doubt very much a 26mm would fit unless you did some serious machining.

How about some brackets that bolt wilwoods to 10" OEM rotors? Would cost a tad more than what we're looking at, but would pay dividends in simplicity. The other option would be to machine a hub spacer to run the 11" VW rotors with wilwoods like what the V8 guys do. We know they'll fit because it's essentially a knock off of the early FM big brake kit. Plus the bracket is simple to fab and the system would be very light.

I can get it done, but would need to get some commited interest. Especially since me or ETD is going to have to purchase some expensive parts to make it happen.

I'd rather use the 11" rotor with the Willwood myself.

Either way would work, I suggested the 10" simply because it's what most of us run, it's fine for most of us, and the rotors are only $20 ea. The 11" with wilwood won't clear some 15" wheels.

These setbacks are disappointing, it still looks like the best bang for the buck brake upgrade is the 1.8L brakes provided you can find cheap hardware. :(
