We need to start a poll on what everyone thinks the results of the head pull will reveal.

My vote.......absolutely nothing!

I have $15 that Hustler wasn't at TDC, I have another $15 that he really is pooping blood, and another $15 that he says the word compression 30 times on Sunday at the track day.

You can hear a 15% leak if you stick your ear in the tailpipe.

I concur. It would also explain his abnormal timing map.

I am 1,000,000.0001% certain the car is time properly, and I swept from -5*-+5* to assure myself that exhaust valves should have closed at some point. Why don't you bend over and let me check your compression?

My spark table is not abnormal for low static compression with a large turbine. Savington and I basically had the same spark tables for a while when he ran the car at 270whp.

still got those shiny new valves and seals. mmm delicious.

how about loosening the cam caps and letting the valve springs pull the valves completely closed and doing your leakdown test? is that ill advised?

In a reasonably quiet shop you can hear 15% without getting close to the pipe... with your ear near the pipe you can hear it hiss at 4-6% if it's mostly exhaust. Been there...

Wrong. The burnt valves seal under high cylinder presure just fine. I went from 235rwhp with burnt valves to 235rwhp with new ones.

When doing a leakdown test, instead of sticking your ear in the tailpipe or TB, you can listen in the spark plug holes of the other cylinders.

(Aside from also listening in the oil filler cap to check for ring leakage)
Use a hose that you can stick down the plug holes and the other end in your ear.

If you are doing a leakdown in #1, at TDC
..and you hear a hiss in #4 and #2 and not #3, the exhaust valve is leaking
..and you hear a hiss in #4 and #3 and not #2, the intake valve is leaking

If you are doing a leakdown in #2, at TDC

$200 OEM? Finishline has 'em for $61... local dealer in CA gives us the same basic discount, won't one of your local dealers?

$80 retail. $49 w/ Comp discount. I expect to be kissed if I'm getting charged $200 for a head gasket.
