My new XBox hack is up and running. The last thing you have to do is to remove a 10K ohm resistor R6T3. This is definitely the smallest electronic part I have ever worked with. I was going to take a picture of it sitting on my finger but I lost the damn thing when I took it off. It may be stuck on the end of my soldering iron - I can't tell. The reason you remove it is interesting. Microsoft can burn an efuse on the 360 but since the voltage runs through R6T3 you can remove it to keep MS from bricking your XBox (or disabling your hack).
Yes, it really is there - about the size of the pencil lead:

Looks like an 0402-sized part. That package is actually pretty common. Most of our stuff uses a combination of 0402 and 0805 parts on all the small-signal lines, with 1206s only where we need the power dissipation (for resistors) or higher capacitance.
With a decent stereomicroscope and a good iron (we use Metcal MX-500s) they're not a great deal harder to work with than anything else. I can't imagine trying to place one with the naked eye, though.

Very Cool!!!
Here was my latest project:
20, 30, and 40 meter QRP Software defined Sideband / CW transceiver. Was my first SMD project and I'm very proud of myself! Look at that little voltage regulator!! Even had to wind the coils on the top side myself which was a HUGE pain in the ***. I have pretty big hands and 10 thumbs when it comes to magnet wire!

CW?
Fur realz?
I have absolutely no idea who that/they is/are.
As I said in your other thread on this topic, man up, get a Sharpie, and write "Chuck Norris stood here" next to it.
