I go into archives and also search out forum threads where older pictures are posted. I just find some of them interesting. Lots of them aren't so interesting. I try to bring some of the automotive/racing or full color or just interesting ones over here to share with you guys sometimes. More old archive pics are scanned in somewhere every single day somewhere on the web.

I edited the original clip down to what I wanted in premiere pro and compiled it as an AVI. The opened in in layers in photoshop so I could thin out duplicate frames and make it play smoother.
When compiled straight out of premiere pro as an animated gif but it looks like this:

Thats a good question. Im in the same boat.

Id want a good CPU, 16+ GB DDR3 1600+ Mhz RAM, and a fast HDD.
I have a phenom II quad core and it pegs out to 100% on all cores while compiling video. I also just bought a 128GB Crucial M4 SSD which is going to have adobe programs installed on it. Im plenty happy with my boot times with my WD black 1TB main drive. Id rather have a high speed workspace for photoshop and premiere pro than a fast boot drive.

I dont think it does.
If it could, it would be great because that is a ton of cores with high speed memory, so it would be capable of a lot of computation, but I dont think these programs can use it.

I just hopped on newegg for a moment, and for ~1k you can have an i7-3770 Ivy bridge, a good ASUS mobo, 32GB of 1600Mhx RAM, a 128GB boot drive, a 128GB program files drive, and a 3TB WD red drive.
Whats left is a power supply, case, and video card.

I think you could spend 2k and have a hell of a computer, that would compile HD video and play crysis with ease. 4k would be some intense setup I cant even imagine building.

ahh video editing, i have not dabbled in such since the days you needed a MPEG-2 encoder CARD as well as a render card. :x

back then real-time editing was new and flashy and cost $10K for a dual CPU P3 machine with the needed hardware.
