Lol that's not what I meant. I mean how does a GTR make you want a vette. But I think you meant just fast cars in general.

What's interesting, (and correct me if I'm wrong) but many of my friends that drove GTR's thought they were boring. The car is blistering fast, but does most of the stuff for you, so aside from just seeing people disappear in the rearview, you don't get that many pucker moments that make you realize how fast you're going like a z06 would.

I haven't driven a fast GTR though

Interesting. Every time I blew a gear on a wrx I thought (and hoped) it was a diff. No such luck

Having back in the day been a passenger in a 733awhp R32 GT-R on the street on many occasions for acceleration tests in the presence of other cars and street bikes, all I can say is, yes, it is intoxicating. To have two dudes in a full bodied car beat street bikes and hang with liter bikes from 70 to above what is reasonable speed for anyone on a public road is pretty exhilarating. It changes your perspective. I'm really glad we discovered driving on the track before there was an accident on the road.

I haven't gotten to drive one either. This same friend is the one who let me drive his E90 M3, but I wasn't about to ask to drive this one.

It's kinda like my vette vs my miata. The vette has the crazy g forces, but the feeling of power/fast/crazy is more so in the miata, because it's tiny and 80mph feels like 120 in it lol

As someone whose go-fast antics are confined entirely to public roads, and who has never competed in anything more serious than AutoX, I find that the old axiom about "driving a slow car fast" holds a lot of truth. Speaking from experience, I can tell you with certainty that as a daily-driver, one can simply have more fun in a Geo Metro LSi than in a Lamborghini Murciélago.

 

Yeah. 2 blown difs in the shop 15 wrx. Tuned on e85 both times. Less than 300hp. Have an older sti diff in it now with no issues

 

I dunno. If it's a DD I'd be totally happy with a stock WRX. Love it.

I don't know if I can agree with this statement. Disclaimer: I've driven neither car. The closest to the Metro was a Geo Storm. The closest I've driven to the Lambo is, well, probably the Geo Storm...

Anyway, I'm thinking I could have a lot more fun on the road with the Murc as a daily driver. Though that has more to do with the type of passengers I'd be picking up, rather than outright speed.

 

I owned one of the 3 cyl Metro convertibles for about a year, and I have driven my cousin's husband's Murc.

The Metro was a fun car in somewhat the same way as a bone-stock NA with old shocks and dry-rotted 14" all-season tires. Not particularly fast, not particularly nimble, and pretty much guaranteed not to impress the sort of people who people that buy cars to impress other people care about. But, like Hustler's Miata, that little crapbox seemed to exude eagerness and earnesty; it loved to be tossed around on the street, and provided the driver with a sense of drama while doing so even at sub-felonious velocities.


The Murc I only drove for a short time, however it failed to impress me beyond the obvious initial shock of "holy ****, I'm driving a Lamborghini."

Yes, it was fast. And yes, it handled well. But it did so in the manner of a machine specifically designed for the task of going fast and handling well by a team of bespectacled German engineers wearing bland ties who punch out of the office at 4:30pm every day and then walk the same route to the same pub to drink the same beer before staggering home to watch the same football match on the same TV while back in the kitchen same half-eaten schnitzel slowly grows as cold and unpalatable as their marriage.

In other words, it did so utterly without emotion.

 

Oh, I certainly understand and agree with the driving dynamics review. I was just insinuating I'd be getting a lot of road head in the Murc. That's probably harder (more difficult) to pull off in the 3-cyl Metro.

 

Frequent the right trailer parks....

 

Having driven a Geo Storm and a Geo Spectrum GSi hatch (special build ), I can say there is a huge difference in weight and dynamics. Geo Metro is even lighter and probably lots of fun.

 

I owned two Metro's so far. Well...one metro that I sold to my brother and one base model swift. The extra cylinder in the swift made the smile that much greater. Then my dad got a Swift GT and...damn. We installed a twin cam into the original metro and my brother had many many good times with that thing. Swift GT got the first ever absurdflow turbo kit.

In the back of my mind, I've always had a vague desire to pick up another Metro convertible, give the engine a very casual refresh, open up the head just a tad, and then do something thoroughly unreasonable to it with a turbocharger.
