game 5 of the world series might just be the best baseball game i've ever seen.

 

It was pretty exciting, though to earn that level of regard, I think it could have used the added thrill of an elimination game as well as some better fielding skill demonstrations. Is this game just a demonstration/result of the MLB supposedly "juicing" the ball now?

 

About to lose my mind.

My 2001 Frontier (2.4 5psd) has reached 222k miles and, usually, runs amazing. In August I had to replace the master/slave/hose for the clutch system had no issues with the install. Fast forward to just after Irma and my distributor ***** the bed from rain. Replaced that and did the plugs/wires while I was there and it's good as new.

Fast forward to two weeks ago - driving home and my clutch hits the floor. Managed to get it home by starting it in gear and using gravity to roll the bitch. Get underneath and see the slave gushing like a granny where the hose meets it. Take it apart, clean it and redo the install. Still leaks. Decide to use red threadlocker to seal it up permanently (old truck so why not). Works great for a few days then I get down to inspect everything and find the slave is leaking at the boot The inner seal failed.

Ordered a new Dorman brand slave/hose. Arrived last night so I was up till 11 doing the install. The ****** is leaking out of the threads...What the ****.

Swapped the original hose (Centric) to the new Dorman slave about an hour ago. Built pressure quickly and everything looked great.....then it started leaking at the threads again. Got my 18mm wrench on it to tighten it up some more. Starts leaking worse as I try to build pressure.

I have a new Centric slave being delivered tomorrow. I have no idea whats going wrong or why. From what I've read you should not have to use anything to seal the hydraulic hose to the slave cylinder. What am I missing?

 

Sounds like a damaged sealing face. What kind of connection is it? Flared?

 

I'm stumped.

Everything bolts up fine.

 

Maybe the hose is corroded. Take a look at the flared hose.

 

Both hoses are brand new. The flared hose hard line is not leaking. It's leaking where the new hydraulic hose connects to the new slave cylinder(s)

 

Take both to a hydraulic shop and have them take a look. If hydro fittings leak the taper angles are wrong or the fittings are damaged.

 

We had two, but they got Irma'd. Our Napa was hit by a tornado, too.

Had my mechanic friend look at it today; he's 99% sure Amazon sent me the wrong part(s). New Centric slave arrives today. He said I just need a copper washer to seal it and forget about it. So...let's see.

I had a run of three bad passenger front calipers for my 98 Montero with a similar issue. Leaked from fitting into caliper. Every one of them. Swapped to a brand new oem hard line. Still leaked. Bought a caliper somewhere else. No leak.

Magic.

Just drove the truck. Ended up using the Dorman hose + Centric slave + copper washer = Houston we have Nismo

22 miles on the quick trip and multiple gear changes. Bone dry underneath, fluid is full still. Giving it the cardboard test overnight.

 

Anyone have any insight into 2003 Acura MDX reliability? I'm helping my dad shop for a new used car and I'm getting mixed info on whether or not the terrible transmissions from the 01-02s were fixed for 03+.

 

So, our little dude is two and half now. We were (and are) determined to limit his exposure to screens and electronics until he's quite a bit older, so TV's have stayed off, computers are in a closed office, etc. We do listen to a fair amount of music in the house, but this is generally just played from the computer or a phone since my wife doesn't like messing with the big audio system.

After a while, we basically got out of the habit of watching TV at all. I'll still watch a few shows that I follow, or sports, but even then, I'm more like to just watch it on my Chromebook in bed in the evening.

Then we started preparing to move and I packed up the 40" TV, the big Pioneer floor speakers, the huge HSU subwoofer, the Yamaha receiver, the HTPC DVR system, etc. And then I packed up the completely separate system in the bedroom that has bookshelf speakers, another sub, another receiver, another TV, and on, and on.

And then I realized I kind of liked not having all that stuff out. The house looks nicer, I don't find as many ways to waste time unproductively, and I just feel less encumbered by it.

So now I'm seriously considering just selling almost all of it off, and keeping just the basic essentials. Might do away with both TV's, the HTPC DVR, both receivers, both subs, and both sets of speakers. I've got a nice older Sony shelf system that plays CD's and has an aux-in that I could plug a cheap Bluetooth dongle into. If I need to add sound somewhere, I'd probably just pick up a pair of powered monitors for $100. I would keep my good headphones for my own music listening, maybe invest in a little headphone amp if I was really missing high quality sound.

Is this crazy? I have zero motivation to unpack this stuff and set it back up.

 

Not so crazy. Crazy would be if the new house is in the middle of 1000 acres with no contact to the outside world at all.

You're crazy. We've embraced technology in my house. Everyone got an iPad for their 1st birthday (although they didn't use it until like 1.5-2). My soon to be 3 year old is he most vocal, blabbermouth toddler of any friends we have. He puts on his favorite music using Alexa, and they all sing and dance to it. He knows almost all the words to "I wanna rock" by Twisted Sister. Sit that kid down in front of Youtube kids, put on Blippi or Ryan's Toys Review, and you'll be amazed at how much information they learn. You'll be mid blown once you get that kid out of the crawl space and into the world.
