EDIT: So, now I'm conceptualizing this (though it will probably never happen).

Could the bike theoretically be converted to fuel injection? I was thinking custom intake manifold bridging the two intake ports, inject the fuel strait into the manifold at each runner. Run some sort of engine management (Some sort of MS derivative?). Depending on the bike the spark is controlled independently of the MS, though you could probably use a coil and create a controlled timing map. Thought that would be rather difficult because it would require something to tell the EMS where the crank is.

Oil feed would be a sandwich plate at the filter, but does a motorcycle like a CB create enough pressure to run a turbo? Drain and routing the air would be fairly easy.

Sorry, thinking out loud here.

You could convert it to FI, but according to this thread you can just keep it carbureted and turbo it. Not sure what they do about concerning EMS though.

I know this must have been posted before but..

Damn it to hell. My first little attempt at improvement of my new project, porting the stocker E7 heads, and while removing the valve I realize the machine shop that did the head work for the guy I bought the engine from, galled the fuck out of my valves around the retainer keeper area, and pulling the valves out I gouged the shit out of the guides. So now I get to bring the head back and have them this time fix it correctly, I'm sure at my expense. I'm too pissed to finish porting today. I got 1 port of 8 done on this head. At that rate I can have ported heads in about 2 months, since I only work on it on the weekends.

Just spent the morning putting new pads and rotors on the Jeep. In the rain, at 40 degrees. Now I need tires. Spending money to pass inspection sucks.

99% of the time I write MiatatuBRO in the search bar...

And my co-worker just said this to me; "everytime I see you on that website I think it says, Masterbate.com." HE FROM TEXAS.

Apparently it's been done =/

I'm gonna do this to my car this summer. Seeing keith/fm doing it set the deal for me and he's intelligent and can answer questions when you get them. I'm pricing out 60gallon compressors now, gonna use the ~$15 HF gun. Probably summit racing paint cause it's simple.

Do people usually use piping pieces like that for DIY manifolds?

TurboTim 03-13-2011 10:08 AM

no.

icantthink4155 03-13-2011 10:26 AM

I had a feeling that that was not the norm. That doesnt seem to be a very efficient way to direct airflow.

curly 03-13-2011 10:52 AM

Definitely not the first time I've seen pictures of those couplers used for a cheap turbo manifold, although they usually have "FAIL" written on the picture.

Although I'm surprised those guys have never made a log manifold like that and then cut a hole for the turbo flange, they all seem to be mystified about that part.

^^ Definitely win.

I met the crew of the Nine-O-Nine when I was 11. Memphis Belle was also in the 91st Bomb Group.

197 B-17's shot down, 887 airmen KIA. Nothing like modern air wars.
