I'm interested in this. I'd love to update my A/C system. Would I just need the 1.8 A/C parts/system? I'm sure the under-dash controls would be the same. Seems like it would just be the main hardware.

Bryce, let me know, or I'll bug you about it for days and days

I just compared everything now that I have it out of the car. All you would need to make your R12 system perform exactly like an R134a system is:

94-97 Compressor (Identifiable because it says R134a on the ID plate)
94-97 Receiver/dryer (Purchase new for $26 shipped, don't buy one used)
94-97 Condenser
94-97 2 Rubber lines to/from compressor
94-97 2 Hardlines to/from the firewall
94-97 Expansion valve
Maybe 94-97 hi/low pressure switch. I swapped mine over, wire splicing required. It would be nice if you get a pigtail for this switch. I don't know how different the pressure switchpoints are, but they should technically be different because R134a operates at higher pressures.

Keep your R12 evaporator, the R134a one is the same.
Keep the small hardline that goes from the receiver/dryer to the small hardline from the firewall.

That should be it.

On a sidenote: I'm pondering whether I should fill my new system with R134a or HC12. I feel pretty confident about the safety of HC12 now because I had a sudden full venting of the entire contents of an HC12 fill when my AC compressor fell off while driving on the highway. Nothing exploded.

Man I feel weird today. I can't put my finger on it either. It started when I snapped out of a deep sleep last night and didn't know where I was or what was going on. So all morning I just feel "out there" and I don't like it at all. I've had this happen once before too...just waking up and not knowing anything. Oh well.

To add to the things I don't need to think about, now my car is acting up and it's something electrical. I haven't been about to diagnose crap since the laptop I use for the Hydra has a dead battey and must be plugged in to work. But, not long after the car is fully warmed up I'll get a bad stumble ~3k rpms at light throttle. So far it's been just a short burst and if I let off the throttle and get back on it, there is no more stumble. WTF? It seemed to do it going over some bumps so I am wondering if I have a loose connection somewhere on something. Ugh.

I still have an electrical issue in mine. Happened last April, and I just dealt with it until I parked it in Nov. Now I have to fix it before I do emissions in March.

I hate electrical issues....at least one that is causing a random stumble because4 it could be a plethora of things. I know for quite some time that there is a small issue with the ECU that will cause it to power off and back on in like .25 second. Talking to Jeremy at FM he said there is a known issue with some Hydras having a 5v power supply to something that will randomly cut off. It's never caused me a problem.

But the issue I'm having now isn't an issue of it cutting off, just a bad, bad brief stumble.

mines causing everything run on power to be offset. like the injectors can run as lean at idle, the idle valve couldnt lower the idle enough, enrichments got bonkers, tps & map are jittery, a/c doesnt work at all fan speeds, crazy ----. went from 27 mpg city to 20-21.

The van I wanted is gone, GF's dad tried to crank it and the insides went boom. This is gay, no more time trialing for me, taking a break from cars.

Joyous day! Zero sleep, and now I get to take my grandfather to have an MRI done. He is on heavy pain meds and acts psychotic and out of his ------- mind and due to a back injury (reason or the pain meds and MRI) can barely move around. FUN DAY AHEAD!!!

alternator, battery, injectors, coils...

there's voltage leaking to ground, with is offsetting everything. I just dunno where and how.

The last time I had a "interesting" electrical issue, something had gone wrong with an o2 sensor and 12v had managed to make its way into the ground and caused a similar issue of 5v being fed to the ground of several sensors.

I am tempted to overnight the ECU back to Hydra and have them run through it and see if anything is wrong with it.

interesting. But I did replace the wbo2. Running no NB. I was going to swap the LC1 for the MTXL I have in a box.

Hell even my RCA cables to my amp had to be replaced because they started picking up horrible ground noise.

Chavez. much better band than SG.

I just ordered a new battery for my old HP NX9000 laptop. Guess I'll start using it for misc. stuff and for the Hydra. It's old but it works well and has an awesome screen....go figure I replaced the LCD and a month later bought a new laptop, might as well use the old one for something. Battery from "buy.com" was $32.

My car is having some sort of belt issue. It will squeal horribly randomly. Well maybe not random. It seems to happen after driving at a certain RPM for a long time. Then when the rpm drops it squeals. My belt tension is fine. And I can't see any damage to the belt. Wtf.

The belt looks fine. It's brand new. I'm sad.
