that laptop was only 4-5 years old when that picture was taken. my current laptop was only $299.

that dinner was part of my pier diem. it was still only like $30. I could have doubled it. it was sunday night after I got into Savannah and like every other restaurant was closed (after 9pm) so I got outback.

Isn't Pier Diem a day spent at some seaside structure?

Way to trust Brain's spelling.

In Brainy's defense, it *was* spelled correctly. The correctness of the word may be a different matter, but it was spelled correctly.

Per diem is our friend, and a wonderful source of minor supplementary income. Honestly, the rate table is a bit out of whack (assuming you use the US GSA schedule) but I'm not complaining. The M&IE rate in NYC, for instance, it's $71 a day. I probably spend $15-$20 of that on average, and pocket the rest. Even better, so long as you don't exceed the federal rate, per diem payments are 50% deductible.

Granted, it's not a huge amount of money, but it still feels good when you sum it all up at the end of the year and pencil it into line 24b of Schedule C.

Ah, so this was expense account, not per diem?

I really dislike Oracle databases. I have spent the past 8 hours or so working on trying to get one installed and working correctly. I have the completed response file and everything that needed to be done on the servers to get it working, and I have followed it setup by setup, multiple times. I am still having more issues. Hopefully taking a break to get some food will help clear my mind.

This also killed my chance of working on my car today. FML.

Seersuckers are perfectly appropriate for:

A) A Derby Party

B) A Caribbean jaunt

What is funny is that I probably wear a sear sucker suit more often then pusha does.

I finally got Oracle working on one server. Currently it is being cloned and then the clone will be configured in a bit. After that I will call it a night here at work. Next to get back in tomorrow morning before most of the team gets in to make sure it is all up and running for them.

Is anybody else annoyed by faucets that don't protrude far enough out from the edge of the sink? I hate when I can't put the base of my hand under the flow of water without having to curl fingers to keep from touching the bowl of the sink. The annoyance is doubly so in public restrooms.

And here I figured I was the only one.

When I built my first house in Ohio, I installed a kitchen-type faucet in the master bathroom sink. I do miss that.
