the states with less population and/or more low-income housholds [and/or closer proximity to DC]. this is how wealth redistribution and progressive tax systems work. this is not new.

this means by default CA and NY will be the biggest "losers," without even looking. and DC and PR will be the biggest "winners".

Raw data: Federal Taxing and Spending Benefit Some States, Leave Others Paying Bill | Tax Foundation

Interactive charts: Most Red States Take More Money From Washington Than They Put In | Mother Jones This site attempts to place a political bias on the data by further segregating it by which presidential candidate the state swung towards in the most recent election. Pay close attention to the data- because of the way the numbers settle out, neither the blue states nor the red states were predominantly "provider" states, principally due to the fact that of the 50 states, 32 of them take more than they give, while only 17 give more than they take. (Rhode Island is completely neutral at $1 per $1.) This works because the states with the largest populations and GDPs (California, New York, Texas, etc) are all "provider" states.

Y'all in CT are among us generous folks. Better than CA, in fact, at $0.69 per $1.00.

DC is completely off-scale at $5.55 per $1.00 (what did you expect?), and data is unavailable for PR.

DC isn't even a state. It produces almost nothing to speak of either. It's just a refuge for transient political staffers. Most of the permanent residents have jobs that cater (quite literally) to short timers.

Also there is a home depot.

Alsmot forgot: DC local government is essentially federal government. Much of the district is federal land. Hence why it receives a lot of federal dollars. Mayor of DC can't take a dump without congressional say-so.

Q: What's the difference between a state and a commonwealth?

VA is a state. a blue state. "commonwealth" means jack ****.

otherwise I'm going to start correcting anyone that calls CA a state, and say no no no, it's a republic.

they all predate the consitution and mean nothing today but to give Joe P something to rant about.

Point of Order, Mister Chairman: California's establishment as a Republic does not predate the US Constitution. It just predates their determination to enter into statehood.

You may continue.

as much as 75K in atlanta would techincally equate to considering the COL (A bottle of my **** could purchase a manison there), there's no chance in hell I'd ever step foot in.
