What is it about mothers?

No matter how old you are, no matter what you've accomplished, they get wind of the fact that may have slightly owned a bit of a motorcycle at some point, and suddenly you're a Hell's Angel and they are on a crusade to reform your soul.

But you gotta love your mother.

Good thing my mom has no clue about Hell's Angels.
She's just worried about traffic.
She also does not know I cruise at 90 mph.

Major facepalm event today.
I took my supercharger apart to rebuild it, and once it was back in the car, I could only get 4 psi boost, regardless of engine rpm.
Took the outlet manifold off to discover I had switched the rotors in my haste.
The outlet opening is V shaped, and the rotors sit in there, in an inverted V.

I should learn to stop and put the tools down when I am exhausted and hungry.
Aaarrrgghhh.

So, I discovered a new mythological creature here at WPIX; the Non-Union Electrical Fairy. The NUEF appears mysteriously some nights and weekends, and gets **** done in a fraction of the time it would take otherwise.

I'm not saying I want to gather round the campfire and talk about the latest in skinny jeans or anything that drastic. I know Some Of Us live in Manhattan and may be into that kind of thing, but I'm thinking more practical.

For example:

Where do thin guys with long arms get shirts that dont make them look like puffy-shirted-swashbuckling-pirates?

What kind of shoes are dressy and stylish but also jeans-able casual and dont make your feet hurt?

How can I ensure my tailored jeans retain the original hem? And with how much break?

et cetera.

It'll just get weird, man. Besides, most of the people on this board are involved in the following industries:
  • ITing
  • Engineering
  • Studenting
  • Wrenching

None of those fields lend themselves to the sort of... je ne sais quoi... that one would expect from such a thread.

I have to purchase my work shirts with our company logo from a specific vendor. I'm 5'10", 160 lbs with a reasonably athletic build (narrow hips, broad shoulders). If I order a medium, the length is acceptable but the sleeves reach my elbows and it's baggy around my waist. If I order a small, the sleeve stops at mid-biceps and it's reasonably well-fitted around my waist, but it's so short that I can only tuck in a couple inches, so every time I bend over, sit down, get in or out of a car, or basically move at all, it comes untucked.

I do order my pants from Bonobos, though. Not too pricey, great fit, and incredible return policy. If you haven't tried them out yet, you should.

Nordstrom. You can get perfect fitting shirts.
Wait for the yearly men's sale, raid and profit.

I know this will sound very MT.net but learn to sew and google "pinch and pin". Or find a solid tailor near you. Or someone (wo)manly enough and confident enough to do it for you.

I'm going to take a stab at this myself some day soon. I'm sick of getting poofy shirts that fit my monkey arms.

I somehow doubt Nordstrom is that specific logo-shirted supplier.

I get that, but most of the people on this forum probably drink shitty beer and bottom shelf swill and eat at crappy fast food chains too.

For the single digit percenters, I'm sure there's more money than fashion sense on this forum.

"Metrosexual" is long gone, but stylish has always been.

Nordstrom is awesome, I wish we had one here in Jesusville. We dont have a Sacs, Macys, anything.

Stylish, comfortable shoes that work with slacks and jeans? Steve Madden comes to mind.
