If so, this is the worst recommendation I have ever seen on a forum.

For one, it's a suppressor, and nothing fully silences a firearm. Secondly, unless you go through the ATF process and pay the tax associated with suppressors ($200), you can get your *** in big trouble. Then consider that they are illegal in something like 1/4 of the states and Canada.

Why I am even trying to make sense of this post... I guess I'm bored.

 

im sorry "suppressor" and yes you can "suppress" a gun to the point where the only sound is of the bolt, hammer... ever hear of subsonic ammo?

Stop posting dumb advice.

Every suppressor I know of, for any caliber, reduces sound by -25 to about -35 db. I've seen a few reports that indicate that certain cans when run wet can push that up to -40 db or more. But that's really about it.

You post is less retarded now that I went back and read the original post again. I was thinking this was a serious hypothetical "what would you buy" handgun scenario/question. Just saw the zombie outbreak part. In which case I change my previous posts about my CZ. I still think a suppressed .22 is a bit pointless. I'm not going to be worried about being stealth in this situation, unless we are dealing with zombies/creatures/mutants like in "I Am Legend", in which case I would just sit in my shelter and avoid contact, because those things freak me out. Regular slow walkers that moan and eat brains, I would have a blast with them. Why stick with one gun, I would have a whole toolbox full of weapons to enjoy. Several shotguns, a few rifles, might not even have a pistol if I can find a submachine gun, maybe an MP5. Something compact for those close encounters in tight spaces.

I wish I had my home-made can on my 308 dissy-style AR10 when I shot at a coyote last month (or ear plugs) - did permament damage to my left ear maybe 20%. And btw, it's on a F1 so it's a legal home-made can, same with the suppressor on my GSG .22L - now that's quiet as **** with subsonic - when it cycles properly. My 308 can was made hoping I'd be soon having a 300 whisper upper on my AR15 lower.


Suppressors, imho, are basically useless without subsonic ammo through them. Sure, it's not AS loud compared to unsupressed and it does help keep one from being located by muzzle blast/flash... but I'm no longer in the Army and not in a combat zone. Now if it's a SHTF zombie-apocolypse scenario and total lawlessness - I'd do whatever I wanted to do to keep me and the fam safe.

But - talking about doing FA conversions and home-made cans sends the shadowtrolls sniffing. Try saying that on AR15.com - just sayin'... I know it's a hypothetical scenario, but becareful. Now, for some serious fun - try a PS90 with subsonics and a supressor!

 

Bryan, what route did you choose for your paperwork? Individual or trust?

 

Individual - it was super easy and faster than waiting for a F4 to go through - but you have to make the supressor too.

BTW: Suppressors, SBR's, and Full-Autos are fun... My buddy is a Class 3 dealer here in SC.

 

See, I was thinking this thread was about legit conceal carry weapon options. I was blown away to think that someone suggested a suppressed .22 in a serious manner as the best CC weapon. Knowing it's about Zombies, it's still pretty low on the list, but less so.

I would need a gun where i can make ammo for the weapon myself. So i would go with a smaller caliber round for a weapon that can handle diffent types of metal in it such as un-cased lead. Really any kind of metal that has a lower melting point and easier to handle than copper. Also a weapon that doesn't jam if I'm forced to use black powder.

1.)The formula for Black Powder is 75% Potassium Nitrate (5 Parts), 15% Charcoal (one Part), and 10% Sulphur (2/3 of 1 Part). These percentages are percentages by weight.

2.)Mill the charcoal and sulphur for 4 hours.

3.)Add the potassium nitrate to the ball mill.

4.)Mill for 24 to 48 hours. The longer the better.

5.)The result is called meal powder.

The longer the Ball Mill runs, the stronger the Black Powder will be. A general rule of thumb for all pyrotechnic mixtures is " the finer the powder is, the faster it will burn.
