So, how fast have you had your Miata?

Hmm, after I put the wing on my car, I was able to bump my top speed from 143 up to 145 because of the additional lift. When your car is lighter (what do you think lift does???) you get more faster.

well being that my 9k shines only in highway racing which is stupid and illegal....
I had the speedometer touching the tripometer at around 150MPH.... 5500RPMs in 5th gear, and it will continue to pull to 7000RPM, i felt i had reached the limit of my stupidity.
my goal for the miata is to have fun below criminal speeds!

heh.
This was driving the Miata out to Willow Springs about a year ago. I was on 138, I believe, cruising at around 75 or so, when I came up on a car doing 65. Pulled up to him, popped out, and there is *no* traffic for miles (138 is straight like hustler isn't and flatter than your mom's chest). So I dropped into 4th gear, pulled out, and went hammer down.
As I popped out, I noticed there was another car, about 5 cars up from that guy, and since I had excellent visibility I decided to keep my foot in it and get him as well. As I pulled up to that car, there was another in front of him, and another. I think I ended up passing 5 cars. I hit the 4-5 shift about the 2nd car, and the 5-6 shift at around the 4th car (spacing was uneven).
As I'm getting past the last car, I can see there is one more car - a brand new Dodge Challenger. I just stayed in it, and as I went by him I estimated the speed gap to be something in the 20-25mph range.
I glanced down at my speedo then - somewhere north of 130mph. I can only imagine what this guy was thinking as he had just executed that series of passes, and then to have my Miata go whizzing by him.
I don't drive fast like that anymore - fastest I've had the truck up to is about 95 and that was making passes like that. It gets crappy mileage doing 75, so I cruise at 70 and listen to books on tape.
