Why is there no downtempo/chill/trip hop on FM?

On a road trip or weekend driving, it's more like 80% Pandora, 20% Spotify Radio. I haven't subscribed to Spotify Premium in order to access the playlists I assembled on the desktop simply because I don't spend enough time in front of my personal desktop to assemble enough lists to not get bored with music.
Pandora radio is much better than Spotify radio. If I was in front of a desktop where I could spend more time building playlists, I would use Spotify more. They really have a robust catalog of music and I can almost always find whatever I am looking for - and I have some ecclectic musical tastes (with playlist titles like Nerd Rap, Exotica Lounge, Beach Music and the Justified Mix).
Awesome; I look forward to checking those out.

Pandora 100% of the time in my wifes car and Sirius 100% of the time in my car. However, I am starting to find that even Sirius is beginning to replay a lot of the same stuff on a given channel and I like my music to vary. This is why I like quick mix on Pandora and upset sirius cannot do the same.

I was sad when my headphone jack on my phone died, as I quite liked streaming my google music songs that would not fit on my microsd card.
But now I have a $20 mp3 player loaded up with 4 gigs of Umphrey's McGee, which will hopefully last me until I get a new phone. Sidenote: even though they are a liberal hippy jam band, you might like there newer stuff which is more like that crazy club music all the kids are listening too.

Also, we have satellite in my wife's car. She does a lot of driving and spends virtually zero time in front of a computer for personal use.

In my experience, its due to the facts that most people:
The other issue is radio conglomerates like CLEAR CHANNEL buying up stations and forcing the Hip-hop/Country down our throats. Out where I live, there are no more independent stations. I literally almost WEPT when I heard that ClearChannel purchased KPIG.
In short:
- lack the technological sophistication to access free internet music sources
- can't afford smartphone/data plan to stream audio from said sources
- don't/can't buy music online
- don't buy music CDs at the store
- don't know how to pirate music
- feel they need to listen to Top40 HIP-HOP to stay in touch with their peer group.
