Proper preventative maintenance to include clean, lube, oil, etc... should ensure your gun fires just fine even in a monsoon.
"Stainless" and synthetic stock guns really arent all that much rust proof than a normal blue steel gun. Sure the outside will hold up better, but the bolt and trigger parts are all still the same between those models unless they're advertised specifically as having phosphated internals or otherwise additional rust proofing (over traditional bluing) on components that cannot be made from a stainless grade of steel. Typically a well cared for gun that has a proper light coating of oil all over its components will survive being dropped in a lake as long as you make sure to get any trapped water out of it. Military service guns that have to pass crazy salt spray tests and still function are really the only time you have to get into actually using stainless steels and rust preventive coatings.

TLDR just keep your **** clean and properly oiled and even a bare carbon steel gun wont rust in the rain.

Unless it is a late model 870 express. They rust worse than any modern firearm I have ever seen. You need to spray that ****** with clp everyday and store it in a safe with a dehumidifier.

If anyone is wondering, I picked up a Canik TP9SF Elite. The trigger is goddamn amazing and it's way, way more accurate than a $360 gun has any right to be. G19 might be in safe duty for the foreseeable future.

Slide is cerakoted, basically a Walther clone. First mag had FTE on every round, internet wisdom says it wants hot 9mm for the first 100 rounds. Been flawless since I broke it in.

SB Tactical and Shockwave Technologies have both announced new ATF approved pistol braces. Pretty sure they're gonna be released at ShotShow, and hitting my wallet soon.

I am guessing the earlier production makes them more valuable?

No assault pistols in Hawaii... but might have to have a few shipped to my guy in VA who I've got most of my stuff stashed. Never know when something is going to be banned.

A guy probably started out with two of them by luck, or a dealer had horded a few of the same serial to sell as a "set"... and some random rich guy figured none of his rich buddies had anything like "numbers matching set of limited production Winchesters"... and so he worked a deal with a dealer who had some sort of special privileged access to Winchester directly or whatever and made sure he got all the #58's to sell to this one guy at a huge premium.

Not really... it's like guy who collect anything. Dudes who collect current production gold coins from the US mint aren't looking for their "legal tender" value to appreciate although they are technically good for whatever face value is on them, they're collecting them because they got bored with collecting old coins and figured collecting new stuff still kept them in the hobby and allowed them to stockpile bullion legally. Maybe this guys was like Uncle Rico and wore #58 in High School and could never let it go.

Here's an example of what this guys collection is probably made out of: Model 1873 150th Commemorative

Here's a search at RIA for "limited edition winchester lever":
https://www.rockislandauction.com/ca...nchester+lever

Here's a simple gunbroker search for the same:
https://www.gunbroker.com/All/search...+edition+lever

Limited edition (but still modern new production) guns designed specifically as wall-hangers for guys the guy who probably has hundreds of guns already. None of them will ever actually be shot. The firearm industry sells tens (hundreds) of thousands of "special/limited/whatever" edition guns annually that go into "collections" for rich old white dudes. If he's got 14 guns there for close to $100k... and they're all just stacked in the safe banging around against eachother... it's s sure bet that none of them are actually from the year 1873.

Looks like I'm buying my first Leupold. They've discontinued the VX1 and VX2 lines and replaced them with the VX Freedom. They look to be VX2 glass with Mark-AR bodies and capped turrets... and priced directly between the old VX1 and VX2... looks like a spectacular deal.

They're stupid light, just like the VX2's have always been... I think a 2-7x33 version is gonna find it's way into my 16" 6.8spc. OP has them on presale for $179 shipped.

Got my newest upper in on Wednesday! I kinda want to put on a different lower on here. Kinda waiting for that SBA3 to be released, but they won't be shipping until March. So maybe I'll bite and get an SBPDW lower

Really like my VX-1. Bought it a few years ago on sale + Leupold rebate was around $130, so $179 for a much improved model seems like a steal.

Closing in on 5 months for this thread... unacceptable.

I got a wild hair up my *** for .17HMR the other day and checked the Savage website for how much the current rimfire rebate was... and sometime in the last few months, Savage stopped a couple of it's decade long rebates. You could always count on on a $25 or $50 off rimfire of some flavor and $100 off most centerfire. Looks like the chassis rifle businees is in full swing though. I don't think I'd buy a factory chassis rifle, but with the current $100 rebate, you can pick up a Savage Stealth in the $750 range.

I think the cheapest chassis on the market is still the MDTAC LSS... nice and simple, and definitely the one I'd go with.

Anyways, this post is also my yearly plug for the best deal in rimfire rifles... the Savage MKII F. When Savage has their $50 rebate, these come down to $130... cannot be beat. The FV model (heavy barrel) is $10 more if you need that. I have an FV-SR that is amazing with CCI SV ammo.

In case you haven't seen this... convert standard PMAGs to shoot 9mm. No more ******* around with Glock lowers or mag-blocks. LRBHO works like standard because the rounds feed vertically out of the mag. You use your normal AR15 lower with no modifications and any 9mm complete upper.

https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/...-56-magazines/

Here's your upper... or for those in free states, I'd fo'shizzle go with a pistol brace and shorter barrel. Not in Hawaii though.
https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-...165448580.html

And don't forget some random off-color PMAGS to convers. I always wanted an excuse to buy some "sand" color PMAGs.
