It only cycles the Quiets occasionally... maybe once every couple of mags. A bit of a pain if you can already shoot, but I use Quiets when I teach so we don't have to wear ear-pro... makes the student way more comfortable, especially a first time shooter or a kid. Plus, they get to work the controls a lot (every round), and I get to reinforce muzzle control and safety. Quiets are a great way to teach semi-automatic pistols but limit them to one shot at a time. I don't like teaching with a revolver, since the ergo's are so different than a semi-auto.

EDIT: I see in my last post... should have said "fails to cycle 29/30 times"...

I tried the Aguila Colibris, but the're only really good for revolvers. They barely make it more than about 10" down the barrel on my 10-22 and Savage MKII. I also tried some Aguila Sniper Subsonics one time, but they gave me about a 12" group at 50yds... so slow you can see them fly and impact through the scope.

I do still love my MKIII, and will likely keep it forever.

The only cartridge that will cycle my Mark III every time is the CCI Minimag. I have tried every other cartridge available with limited success.

Interesting. I shoot minimags almost exclusively, but I've never had any issues with any other of the dozen or so loads I've shot out of it.
I did have a faulty magazine once though. Are you sure that's not the problem?

Could be, but I stocked up on Minimags as they were available and never went back.

Yeah, after the ammo shortage a few years ago, I stocked up big time on minimags. There just isn't much else that compared in the 22 rimfire market.
I also Iike stingers, and honestly can't tell much of a difference between the two other than a slightly shifted group.

I've mentioned before, but I sold off about 15k rounds of random .22lr and have consolidated. I used to buy anything I could find, or on sale, or that I could get in a trade... and then have to re-zero my scopes every time I shot a different random box of 50 I had. **** that noise.

All I buy now are:
Federal Automatch
CCI Standard Velocity
CCI Quiet
CCI Stinger

Of course, living in Hawaii, I haven't bought ammo in a year and the only .22lr gun I brought was my CMMG conversion bolt for my .223 AR, which is ******* sweet.

Federal automatch is my goto, but I wont shoot it if its under 40°F out because then its supersonic in my gun. If I really want to shoot impressive groups I have a selection of elay.

^My Savage FV-SR off a bipod/bag shoots CCI SV's like a champ... 5rd groups with 3-4 toucing... easily 1/2" (1MOA) all day. It's got a nothing-special 3-9x Nikon on it. I'd really love to thow a 20x scope on there and really see what the gun could do with some better ammo. It's turned into a range toy anyways.

I just checked Buds, and holy crap Savage rimfires have gone up in price by like $50 since last I checked... wow!

Deal at Sportsmans Guide:
https://gun.deals/product/savage-mar...1-rounds-12349

The "FV" gets you a bull barrel and scope bases. For the field, I like the "F" better with the sporter barrel (1lb lighter) and it comes with irons... not that I wouldn't have a scope, but I do like lighter.

Also, current rebates on Savage are $50 for an A or B series rimfire... takes the price on those down to less than mose of the low/mid tier MKii's. Only "rebate" on MKii's is a free Orca 30oz tumbler.

Since I already placed my order, I'll put this out... https://www.schuylerarmsco.com/winte...-clearence-993

Solid deals on a few Magpul pieces if you need anything. Schuyler kinda gets you on shipping when you order a lot of small parts... $7.50 for first item, and $1.50 for every other item. Makes sense if you're ordering a few hi-dollar items, but kinda backfires when ordering lots of small-dollar stuff, like $6.50 grips. Still, I grabbed a ton of spares. They've also got a good deal on Aero charging-handles that are guaranteed to be in spec and be coated properly.

https://www.schuylerarmsco.com/winte...ing-handle-993

And the best deal I've ever seen on ALG QMS triggers... unless I've got a specific application where another option is better, these go in all my guns.

This surprises me. I’ve run at least 10 different types through my Mark III and have yet to have a FTF/FTE except for when I tried that subsonic BS. Lately I shoot garbage Remington rounds that come in a big bucket; accurate as hell, no problems. It is dirty ammo though, and I hate cleaning that gun.

My dad has a Mark II that he used to shoot competitively with in Germany in the 1980's. It has shot every round I have put in it perfectly. The gun had not been fired in nearly 20 years until I took it out one day. We tried ammo from the 80's along with a ton of other cheap .22lr brands. It did not care. One day I will have spare money for guns again and I want to pick up a Mark II or III to shoot.

PSA has always been my go to for cheap AR components, but I am tempted to try out an upper from Bear Creek Arsenal.
I have seen quite a few good reviews, and $230 for a chrome lined, barreled upper, with BCG and charging handle is the lowest I've ever seen.

Bro, seriously, for $70 more, there is no better deal right now than this... You get aNickel Boron BCG that you know will be in spec, MBUS sights, and an actual useable rail design for $299 shipped.
https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-...165450127.html

No problems with Bear Creek other than they got raided last month for having a bunch of illegals working at their factory. But, every year on Veterans day they have a give-away to military for a free barrel. I have 2 16" HBAR's sitting in a box that I'll do something with someday. Those barrels are on sale for like $45 all the time. I usually throw a few other items in my cart to make it worth it for them... a couple charging handles or a tool or some gas blocks.

Everything I've read said that 50% of the time, they work everytime... total hit or miss with QC. Likely, it's probably about 1/100, which is still pretty bad to discover a boogered feedramp or dinged crown or crooked rails or **** rifling or out-of-spec BCG's... whatever. For a beater gun, toy, loaner... don't see how you can go wrong though.

Couldn't help it... just bought two QMS Triggers and Aero LPK's from Schuyler. Historically (I've said this many times), the best deal out there on LPK's is when PSA has their LPK/QMS/MOE kit for $59. I've got a "notify me" out for it because I bought 4 the last time (over a year ago) they were listed and should have bought 10. Oh well... I like Aero parts better than PSA and I already bought enough of the Magpul grips they've got on sale.

Ideally, once I've got these 4 "safe guns" done before I leave Hawaii, I'll have all the built AR15's and spare parts (plus a dozen spare lowers) I'll ever need and can stop.

I've been using CCI 22 AR tactical for years now because it's usually cheap (edit, not that cheap anymore) but mainly because it's consistently 1050 fps from my mk3 in addition to being clean, accurate and reliable.

I've shot a ton of different ammo types through my Mark 3 and my ppk (22) host and they were all completely reliable. The Aguila stuff is dirty as **** and smells like ***. But it's still accurate and cheap. IIRC, minimags are still subsonic out of the ppk.

It shouldn't be the case but I noticed that lower velocity subsonic ammo is slightly quieter through a can. CCI subsonic and Aguila subsonic were both quieter than I expected. Can was an element 2.
