Hallelujah! Finally got everything taken care of, ran 100 rounds with no problems. Top three targets in the picture were using bipod (first one on left was getting holo sight dialed in), left and middle target on next row were standing. Indoor range so was at 25 yds. Note that each target was subjected to 20 rounds. Ignore rest of the holes, I was shooting my new pistol for the first time and need to get myself dialed in (single correction shooting glasses would likely help with that).

After having a brain fart and forgetting both my front sight adjustment tool and gun lock key, I returned to the range a couple of days ago to adjust my iron sights. On the bipod, I do ok given my trying to focus through progressive lenses (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it). I really need to get some dedicated shooting glasses.

Anyone ever play with the PSA AK-47 line?

Debating grabbing one of their rifles or a WASR-10.

Can't help you with that one, I've started down the road to building an AR-10 myself (Armalite pattern since that's what the left hand upper I have is). Check out AR15.com, they have an AK-47 subforum which should have some info (I have seen a few discussions on the PSA line).

Make damned sure before you start that it's compatible with DPMS Hi-profile that all but the tard companies have switched to. If not sure, or find out it's not, then sell on local forum and buy: https://ar15discounts.com/products/s...1021_c25a108ed

Going to be tougher to find a lefty BCG though, methinks.

Highly suggest posting on ARFCOM in the AR10 sub-forum for help.

Thanks for the heads-up. I became aware of the different styles in the platform early on, however I didn't find out that Stag Arms (where I got my upper) used the Armalite pattern until after I had bought a DPMS lower. Their site spec information is sparse. The upper does slot into the lower I have, but has a big gap at the rear where the Armalite lower has a gusset shape. I've gotten that all straightened out and know what I need. I have my upper but waiting on the BCG and lower I found to be in stock. FYI, for some reason Stag Arms drops items off their site if they aren't in stock so if you try searching they won't show up. Jokes on them, I was able to bookmark their page with the BCG, I check it every day so I can jump on it as soon as they are back in stock.

I lurk on ARFCOM but don't have an e-mail they will recognize to be able to register.

Curious as well. I've been eyeing the GF3 with the M4 or Magpul Zhukov side fold stocks, but not if the Russian ammo ban ends up making 7.62 40 cents a round instead of 18 cents around after COVID craziness dies down.

Unrelated, my P365XL continues to be amazing, but I couldn't hold back from buying the Walther PDP compact. That thing is a tack driver, and the trigger is the best I've felt on a striker fired gun. The ergonomics are great too, it just felt better in every way than the VP9 in a side by side, and was actually concealable with an athletic fit tee using a Vedder Light Tuck with the claw.

That said, I have not tried an optic on either gun yet. I'm wanting to try a dot sight, but the Romeo 5 on my AR looks like Haley's Comet on account of my astigmatism. Has anyone with astigmatism seen any improvement with the green dot or alternate reticle options? I'm not willing to deal with a fuzzy "egg" for sight picture on my carry guns.

I've never truly needed a sight on a self defense conceal gun. And I like to keep carry weapons simple and analog.

All of mine have been so far, but I figured worst case if its not for me, I can move it over to one of my scoped AR's with an offset mount.

I'm with you. Figure any sort of self-defense I might need to do will be at close range. Quicker to point and shoot than to try and get a sight picture. Having said that, if it works for an individual and is what they are used to then it might be better for them.

I want to know how they hold the damn thing and pull the trigger. That grip angle looks atrocious.

Can't speak to the effect of green vs. red for astigmatism, but the Holosun sights are bulletproof. I have three on handguns at this point, and one as an offest backup on an AR. Not all that impressed with the Romeos I've looked at. Holosun K is a sweet setup on the 365Xl... I'm constantly amazed at how well mine shoots.

WRT to sights... point shooting works fine for experienced, skilled shooters at bad breath range. You still need sights, of some sort, if you want the capability of a precise shot, whether up close or out to 10-15 yards. There are a myriad of possibilities in a 'defensive' shooting scenario, but I would never recommend to a student that limiting their capability was a good idea.

Latest Form1 came in 32 days... this was over the December EFORMS upgrade, so I expected it to take a bit longer than the 21'ish days most people report.

6" titanium can (drill to .406) for 9mm PCC work... steel and aluminum cones. I debated a long time on the barrel and chose a 3"... my regular 115gr handloads will be subsonic at that length, and I've got about 5k of them loaded. I may be sacrificing some increased erosion on the first baffle due to still burning powder entering the can, but can live with that for the time. This setup will be primarily for my 12yr old to become proficient with the AR15 platform in a host she can confidently wield... hearing safe for sure.

Not sure how quickly am going to file next Form1, but very interested in reports for new Form4 wait times. Has been a lot of speculation about changes to the industry depending on how the wait times fall out. Personally, I have zero problems with the $200 stamp... keeps suppressors from showing up at every gang shooting across the country like they would if not on the NFA followed quickly by being banned. We were so fucking close to the HPA getting passed until the Vegas shooting and Clinton opening her suck hole... almost glad it got squashed. Its the wait times that keep people from buying suppressors. End rant.

I'm on mobile so I have to keep those brief, but just to be clear: you acknowledge that you can buy a kit over the internet that ships to your door, that can be converted to a functional suppressor with nothing more than a drill press, and you think the reason gangbangers aren't using cans in gang shootouts is because they would need to spend $200 and get the ATF's permission first?

There wasn't exactly a spike in full auto ARs getting used in gang shootings when the autokey cards went on sale.

I can see where you got that from what I wrote, "A" for insult effort... but that's not what I was trying to say. Perhaps I can elaborate. Although I majored in sociology, I'm going to take a few liberties with what I "know" to be true about criminal behavior and my general observations about both legal and illegal access to suppressors.

Studies have shown that criminals, regardless of level or organization, acquire firearms primarily through theft and straw purchase... and prefer pistols.

Legal suppressor ownership is becoming more mainstream, but really just in the last 10 years, and really-really just in the last 5 years. There just aren't that many of them out there, Form1 or Form4. The majority of suppressors sold are for rifles.

People who legally own suppressors tend to NOT leave them out where they can be stolen, and straw purchasing of suppressors isn't a thing.

The legit Form1 cottage industry, with a dozen or so major players can turn out excellent stuff, but it's not cheap, nor do they work in "bulk".

The Chinesium solvent trap industry can work in bulk, although people are getting caught, and products are generally trash for bigger than .22lr, although there are some steel and titanium options from AliExpress and the like.

Today, because they are so hard to legally acquire, because people protect their ownership and don't leave them in glove-boxes, and because there's virtually no way to straw-purchase one, there are maybe a dozen incidents a year where suppressors are used in crimes. HOWEVER... when suppressors are taken off the NFA, and you can get one OTC with a 4473... they will explode in popularity and everybody will suppress everything... I certainly will. They will be everywhere as fast as the market can turn them out. They will be stolen and straw-purchased by criminals, rapidly enter secondary markets, and start filling evidence lockers.

"But Sam, that's dumb. If criminals wanted suppressors, they'd just buy solvent traps from China and threaded barrels and Ryobi's and drill them out in alleyways (sounds hard)... or some asshole will make hundreds of them and distribute through more organized black markets (certainly already happening)"... not sure why they're so rare if it's that easy. Maybe criminals don't care about their hearing very much.

Same for wall-hangers, but I get the joke. Also, I had read that only a couple hundred autokeys were actually sold and shipped, even fewer wall-hangers.

Any one on the east coast interested in a Steyr Aug A3 M1 Nato edition in black. It uses AR-15 mags. I picked it up last year, never used it, and don't plan on it. Rather it go to someone on here before I take it down to the LGS.

Is that left-hand ejection? One of those is on my wish list, but between being at the tail-end of my vacation with toy funds tight, and my wife threatening me over more gun purchases there is no way I can right now. Good luck with selling it.

Right hand ejection only. That is the reason I am letting it go. Purchased it before I realized that, and I am left eye dominant. Have now purchased a standard one that I can convert to left hand.
