My favorite was the way the guy in the red MSR dirt bike helmet had it adjusted. He was virtually looking through the mouth hole. And hand positions on the wheels. and going through the entire corner on the very outside edge of the track. And... and... and... Oi.

Damn! Maybe not bad driving but damn!
|
Uh, wow. That was incredible. Didn't miss a beat.
I wonder if he did it again next lap  |

I love how then he just books it to the other side of the field. I can just imagine what's going through his head. "i'mdeadi'mdeadi'mdeadi'mdeadi'mdeadi'mdeadi'mdead "

I had given this its own thread, but it belongs here too. Count how many black flags are ignored! LOL.

Makes me grateful to live less than 10 miles from MSR-C though. Had no idea you could race stock cars on a high school running track. |

Not sure if this was posted already. My favorite is at 4:00 when two guys dump their bikes and one goes running down the track to flag people to slow down. Helmets are also optional, as you can see at 5:45...then holy shit for the next minute after that!!!
|
Interesting that the camera man on that one corner has so much experience filming there that he knows when a car is entering the corner too hot and stays with it.

Sadly, and as if anyone needed any reminder, here's another perfect testimony as to why you don't get out of your car on track - let alone walk across the track to confront someone.
|
Taunting cars to hit you is pretty dumb, whether it is on the interstate, race track, or local highway.

As tragic as it is, I can't help but think there was a lot of Darwinism at play here. |
I'm confused. Why was he not in his car?
|
He was ticked and wanted to fight. He lost . . . instantly!

Yep, and particularly so if you're wearing a black racing suit with a black helmet and standing in the middle of a black dirt track AT NIGHT.

I actually have a little trouble saying it was tragic in my own mind. It would have been tragic if a wheel had come off and killed a kid in the stands. Demonstrating bravado and arrogance in the face of a mortal danger and getting your dick knocked in the dirt is pretty predictable.
Getting out of your car and taunting racers because you have been "wronged" in some way is a learned behavior. I guess I just looked at the facts that he only just turned 20 years old a couple months ago, had pretty much just been bullied (run) into the wall by Stewart, and undoubtedly still had his adrenaline pumping at full tilt as a consequence. Under those circumstances, I'd have to be honest and say I actually may have been stupid enough to do the same when I but a 'teenager'. I'm not saying what he did wasn't totally suicidal, just that I can see how he may have gotten there. Such a waste. |
Stewart is of course famously guilty of the same type of behavior.

No video for me, just a blank square.

This guy has the patience of a saint. Bad drivers all throughout, but at 3:30 when he gets stuck behind a C63 for the rest of the video....Merc brake checks several drivers, almost loses his back-end several times, and doesn't wave him through several times as well.

I'd agree if it wasn't for his video description.
Not what I've come to expect from the Advanced run group. |

"Here, have some aero bro you are gonna need it!"
Love it *edit* but honestly, it seems like it was all in good fun but I don't have any experience to say otherwise. Is that a pretty dick move? I can't help but laugh when I see it. |

Both of these Subarus got very very lucky. Yellow flag occurs...well, just watch.
@1:30 is a good starting point |

Well what I'm guessing from watching it a couple times. It's Nurburgring, the track is so huge that they don't have enough staff for yellow flag incidents. You don't see any track official until the incident occurs.
The Black Subaru was behind the camera car so even he didn't see a yellow flag. The whole incident would have been avoided if the drivers who had stopped for the yellow hadn't done so mid-track and had pulled off to the side of the track. Or at least hadn't stopped at all and slowly went past the accident like the Subarus did after they wiped the shit out of their seats. |
Theres a POV from the other two subies incase anyone didn't see. Everyone got lucky is wasn't worse!
Red one (starts at :50) And the black one (around 1:30) |

Keith <edit>Other two camera views helped show what happened... but that third video had horrible camera view... was the camera trying to auto focus at different distances due to the changing view out the windshield? </edit> |
Unbelievable. Wow.
|
Driving on the ring looks like it would be scary as hell. Not only is it a challenging track in its own right but you have a huge range of skill levels on the course at one time. That kind of environment creates situations like this where someone sees a yellow flag and responds in a very dangerous way almost causing a serious accident when the experienced drivers who are flying on the course have almost no time to correct.
|
Makes for good vid though.

hey i have a good idea: let's get to the middle of high-speed top-gear straight and then stop in the middle of it.

End of the black Subaru clip he said he was flat out in 6th...jesus christ I'd need several stiff drinks and a muscle relaxer to calm down after that.

Nobody gives point-bys in hyperdrive/first session of HPDE1. Most of them are still trying to learn where to go.

But it was the second session...

not track, dont care:
sorta track, still full of asshattery, carnage and stupidity: |
With the second one, why am I seeing a video with "watch the video you are already trying to watch by clicking here" advertisement over the top? I am leery of clicking links like that.
