Any thoughts or help is appreciated, and I need it bad.

I bought a MS of Braineak, so I went to install it tonight.

Started by unpluging the harnesses from the ECU, and removeing the Bipes from the system. Got all the wire soldered and heat shrinked. Disconnected the battery, and hooked up the MS, reconnected the battery. When I turned on the key I noticed none of the 3 LEDs lit up. Hit the ignition, and nothing. Then I remembered have to jump the fuel pump. Which I did, and still nothing, no start just cranking. So I hooked up the old ECU, and the car started, but ran like complete ****. Then it died, and wont re-start.

Any ideas or help is much appreciated. I have double checked, and tripple checked all connections. Checked all the fuses, and checked my ignition switch for good measure.

Thanks

Not sure if this helps but in one of the videos for the mspnp install they show a fuse being pulled out before they hook up the mspnp. never mind it was for some other electrical product i saw.

can you connect a PC to the BrainSquirt and get it to talk to the PC?
It's not clear if you went through the software install portion of Brain's instructions (did you see he has a very good write up of how to install his megasquirts?)

What soldering did you have to do?
I'm in the process of installing my Brainsquirter. I've got a bunch of stuff to do like rip out the AFM, BEGI FPR, Bipes... and I've got a bit of wiring to get to. I should be ready to crank it this weekend.

What happens when you try to connect your laptop? The unit was flash with firmware and a basemap and I tested all the circuits before shipping it out.

nothing at all. Laptop won't see the MS, and I am using DIY's usb to serial adaptor too. I was able to get the car to start again this morning on the stock ECU. Again running like complete crap.

I hate electrical issues, always a pain to trace.

We are still getting resets, though, and that's where I get out of my depth on this stuff. It's not something we feel while driving, but anything more than about 3psi and it disconnects me from the ECU, which I interpret as a reset.

Also, AEM UEGO users: Brian's wideband output (Autometer wideband) is 0-4v = 10-16:1, best I can interpret. How do I make that show up correctly in my logs? I've only ever dealt with LC-1s, or a properly set-up AEM.

I have it set to AEM Wideband (IIRC) in the configurator. I also modified some code that CJernigan had in his signature at the time. Hope that points y'all in the right direction, I don't remember the particulars.

log 3 and 5 had a "reset" or at least something happened that locked up Megatune.

None of those logs show resets. MegaTune itself freezing is often the result of a loose or troublesome USB adapter.

Megatune would freeze, but I got the same issue with Tunerstudio. It would disconnect me from the ECU and I couldn't reconnect until I unplugged and plugged back in. It only happens under boost, too; I was having Brian do -10in.hg runs from 3000rpm to 6000+rpm and it never once booted me off. Only under boost.

same for me when I used my lap top with the wife in the car. Ran a couple 0 boost runs and nothing. Ran 4 boosted runs and it would get kicked half the time. Sav and I are both using the same USB adaptor, he has a think pad on Vista I have an Asus on XP.

I am replacing the engine ground strap, it is pretty old. So I am making 2 1 gage grounding cables. Also got a new set of plugs, it needs them.
