That hole should open into the turbine housing. Is this a 2860 or 2560?

Looking at where the flapper is hitting the DP, is there enough play that flapper is hitting it and still getting by? Or is it getting hung up? Can you tell? Judging my the marks it doesn't look like much would have to come off.

What was with the completely random thugging at RD?

it does get hung up occasionally. In the vid you can see how far it will open without the downpipe in place and how far it opens with it in place. I don't think the actuator could open it all the way even if it wasn't hitting anything but I'm not sure if is opening enough as is.

On RD, I dunno. I can't stand that kid, and getting mad on the internet is funny so I though a little Hustler action was called for.

I'm not saying I didn't like it, I was just suprised by how random it was. The 1st post about the hammer?!? Nice.

If it's hanging up opening it's could also be hanging up closing. Not good all the way around. Get the dremel in there. Plug the hole with a rag 1st so you don't get shavings in the cat. I'm dealing with that stupidity at the other end, think some of my fan shroud shavings got into my IAC when I had the pipes off. Of course I now remember that the pics look like you have it completely out. Duh.

Yeah, I just pulled it completely to get better pics and facilitate the inevitable grinding.

20 minutes with a dremel can do wonders....

The gate is ported, and just about as much as possible. The other part of the porting is on the inside of the passage from the turbo flange to the gate exit hole.

The most obvious mistake we would make is the diameter of the gate valve. Please check it. Ought to be bloody close to 1.230/1.200 inch.

We did let a few out that did not get the valve diameter reduced. If such is the case, please call me asap. Sorry to do that to you. Easy fix.

In a twisted sort of way, I love these overboost/boostcreep problems.

Thanks for checking in Corky. By wastegate valve you're talking about the gate hole itself or something else?

Corky (or his people) did an awesome job porting a turbo for me. My car made up to 11 psi in the warm weather and up to 14++ psi in the cold weather. Two days ago OlderGuy and FlyN replaced the stock MSM turbo with the ported one that I bought from Bell. Now with the EBC switched off it makes 9 psi if I really step on the gas to 7,200 redline (consider that the car has an AbsurdFlow). I won't know until winter if that boost will be any higher; in theory maybe it'll go to 10 or even 11. But that's a lot safer than 15! So I'm happy.

I think the "gate valve" would be the flapper itself. Flapper gets reduced from stock size for clearance in the DP opening?

Well I finally got around to measuring the flapper and it is indeed just about 1.2 inches so.....****.

well, I grinded down the inside of the downpipe just inside the flange. It'll allow the flapper to open probably about another 1/8 inch. There's one other issue though. I noticed that when opening and closing the wastegate the flapper occasionally gets stuck on the wastegate port. The port is not exactly round and because the flapper door has been reduced in size it grabs the edge of the port sometimes and stays cracked open. I'd have to imagine that it is going to make my spool inconsistent. I don't see what there is that I can do about this though.
