I've had problems getting the Carbotech dust completely off my street wheels. Most of it comes off with a little elbow grease but there are certain places where it just does not want to budge. I may need to try the credit card thing.

I also have a set of track wheels with 3 years worth of built up Carbotech dust stuck to them, never been cleaned. Perhaps I should give up and rattle can them black? :giggle:

Thanks for the sharing the info Slider!

My Carbotech pads also do dust quite a lot but clean off very easily. Most of the time all that is needed is a pressure washer at the wand wash. I guess if you don't wash your wheels as often (or for 3 years) it would be harder to keep them clean.

super lucky. the dust is mostly iron, it's the same for all race pads. once that stuff rusts just paint the wheels black and stop caring.

I've never had ANY issues with carbotech dust. That includes driving home from the track in a downpour in October and then not washing those wheels until spring. The dust still wiped right off with a finger.

I had carbotech dust adhere to a set of 6ULs after I left them sitting and they got wet bad enough that it took a couple hours of scraping to remove it all (actually... it took me 30 minutes or so, then my girlfriend spent anoother couple hours on them). Wheels never looked the same again.

This is in no way means that there's anything wrong with Carbotech dust - it should be expected with any race brake dust, it's just a comment that in my experience Carbotech dust is not magically exempt from the same issue as the rest.
