Hi, Eric

I think we met at one of the autocrosses at Atlanta motor Speedway.
Thanks for posting the photos and info of the engine build, I am in process of building mine and they are helpful.

Would there be any way you would bring this to
Dragon Hill Climb

I think it would do great there!

They have special systems in order to get the licensing and safetygear in place, you might already know it.

Cheers

That requires at least a roll bar I think, and roll bars are heavy, cant be having one of those on an SSM car.

Can I get more info and possibly a picture of this battery? Am I to assume this is not a lead acid battery?

It weighs 3.5lbs, but it will crank your tow vehicle if you accidently leave your lights on.

The 12 cell will start a miata, it might need the jump pack if you're trying to cold start on e85 though, I'm still not 100% it isnt a tune/hydra issue though.

Never having to fool with the jump box is worth the extra lb, IMO.

Can't use a jump box if your car dies in line at a pro solo.

I dont see why you'd need one. Car should already be hot.

Ok. You take that chance. I'll choose not to throw away a pro session due to a dead battery.

Not having to deal with a car that won't start because you accidentally stalled it pulling to the line is worth a few pounds in my opinion. Had it happen to me in Darby's old CSP. Its a rush of stress to an already stressful situation (i.e. about to rain at the Nationals).

I didn't know Darby had a CSP car, unless were talking about two different people.

Eric, you haven't posted your valve problems because your pussified power levels didn't like them!

it's hard not to be impressed with that car. From a power or design perspective.

She moves, that's for certain. Even on cycled out tires the grip is prodigious...

Thanks man. It has been a ton of work up to this point. Then when I realize how much more work it is going to be from here on out, it's really discouraging sometimes. If I ever have kids, it's going to be really hard to explain to them that they can't go to College because "before you were born daddy spent all his money on a Miata he raced in a parking lot"

pro·di·gious

Adjective

Remarkably or impressively great in extent, size, or degree.
Unnatural or abnormal.

Synonyms
wonderful - stupendous - marvelous - enormous

As you described it "The grip is pretty punishing if you aren't used to it." The only thing I can say is "you really need to ride in it on concrete and with sticker tires." All day yesterday I was upset with the fact that the car had ZERO grip on either end and little to no forward bite. Racekeeper showed G loads in all directions were down close to 30% from the previous week at Peru.(fresh tires and concrete)
