Yes, Timing is only at around 26-28 deg, we didn't get any more gains running more. We did not use det cans, but with the hood open it was quite. That is with fresh 91 pump gas but we are at 5600'

I am trying to get it back on the dyno to see what it does with the TB installed, I dont have high expectations, but I did port the IM to match the TB.

PS, a 1997 Kia, Sephia uses the same TPS as a '99& on Miata, so I went junk yard hunting and got both the sensor and pigtail. Found two cars and took both sets. One of the sensors was bad, it had a dead spot right where cruise would be.

I absolutely swear by the det cans. You can hear things that are inaudible during the destruction testing that will save the engine.

I have 4 '99 TPS in my possession, 3 are bad.

I know this was pages ago, but i'm just getting caught up on my reading. Anyways, the wiseco 2618's are not for you. With your paranoia, the noise these make will make you shoot yourself in the face. I usually drive real easy till they expand and stop making the "rod knock like sound". On a positive note, they have probably > 70k miles and almost 5 years of road racing on them.

As far as speed goes, I think if you could hang with the faster sm cars, you'd be doing pretty good. Maybe front midpack spec fast?

I was under the record at Hallett and under the fastest known SM time on MSR 1.7 CW...so I'm getting there.

I suprised at how calm his response was to this, I expected the ban hammer.

I still have no idea if he raced the car N/A or even owns the thing.

Kevins 01 miata that we tracked last year had 150k+ on it. I did the tb, wp, gaskets, and new MS motor mounts. Runs like a champ. You sure you can't find a junkyard motor?

My BFF has one more year in the wine industry so I think we are going to take another NorCal wine trip...so I'm thinking junkyard is the way, and going to keep that VVT engine on ice in the garage for the rebuild.

I set a rev limiter at about 3200rpm until 145° clt to keep the noise/wear at bay.

Husler, I know you have a few issues to work thu and get paid off before you make a move on your big boy build.
In the first post, you talk about "Bull nosing" the crank.

So I thought I show you a "Butcher" crank...

FFWD Connection - Race Components That Will Freeze Your Brain

I am going to be sending a Ford 2.5 crank off to have this done!

Including the "Vader" coating, shown in the pic.

I thought it may be something you would want to know about.

I'm probably going to stuff-in that 9.5:1 bottom end this weekend, maybe even run TTE.

Machine shop said the valves seal fine, head needs a surface job. I am going to work on the spark-plug hole, that's a 14x1.25" thread, right?

Oh! A little late, but when I brought my head in for valve seals, he showed me a cool trick. With the cams out, flip the head over, and spray soapy water on all the valves. The. Blow compressed air in all the ports. Any bubbles means you need the seats ground. Takes 16 seconds and tells you a lot about the head. A surface job was $35 for me.

Sorry you didn't have this earlier, but that's good news!

Curly, this is a decent method too, just no compressed air needed.

How do you air up your tires or blow up your industrial strength blowup doll? Bike pump?

There is a Quick Trip gas station about 100' from my apartment.

What does a bottom end weigh? I need to know if I can pick it up and put it in the passenger seat area, with the seat removed.
