Do you mean you're waiting for 15 before the group buy starts rather than 10?

can this run parallel with stock ecu? I assume if it doesnt return OBD II codes...I am noob...So following is what I need to get the car running, am I missing any?

1. This kit
2. IAT sensor
3. MAP sensor
4. WBO2 sensor
5. Some gauges (comes with the WBO2 sensor, what other gauge do I need?)

My car is 01 stock with 90 degree elbow intake.
I plan to go Rotrex in near future..(Q1, 2011)

Now the noob question,
1. Will I see slight gain from tuning this kit with stock engine?

This is a group buy thread. Please post your n00b questions in another thread. (but the short answer is yes, it will help a little bit n/a, and a WHOLE LOT when you go f/i.)

We are waiting until the 31st of August. 10 is the minimum of units, there is no maximum, whoever decides to order one until 08/31 will get one. If we get 15 before 08/31, we will start building the 15 first units to get them out earlier and still honour the rest of the orders.

This ECU is NOT designed to run in parallel, and so it will NOT return OBD-II codes. I've run it in parallel in the past and I was not happy with the overall behaviour, mostly when idling.

If you do intend to get this ECU, which is a standalone unit, you will definately need:

1) a WBO2 with a gauge
2) an IAT sensor if you plan on going F/I in the future
3) the MAP sensor is inside the ECU, so you don't need one

My gains with a stock engine (I/H/E) were between 12 and 20 hp on various dynos and various states of mods and tuning.

Interested in 99-00 one. The car is bone stock 1999, a/c, p/s, will be running toyota COPS.

Questions:
1. Will you provide diagrams/documentation for the changes you do on top of diypnp(troubleshooting purposes)?
2. Could you explain dependency between fan control and sequential ignition, is it because there's not enough of output pins?
3.How difficult it is to adapt board later to run in parallel with stock ecu just for OBD check purposes?

Might be good idea to split/move all questions and answers into https://www.miataturbo.net/ms-labs-miata-accessories-89/99-00-01-05-ms-diypnp-enhanced-group-buy-50792/.

Edit: Please add me to the list.
Alex

1) Yes
2) Fan 1 and 2 are normally controlled by the WLED and ALED outputs. If you decide to upgrade to sequential COPs, then you need to connect them to the WLED and ALED outputs, thus giving up the programmable on/off feature of the WLED and ALED outputs
3) I'm not really concidering this as an option right now, if the demand is there then we can have a look. It may be easier to create a board that reads the state of the Megasquirt through the serial port and output any data in a OBD-II compatible form (including basic diagnostic codes). From my own understanding, that would also be illegal to use in the US (the EPA wouldn't like it very much) even though it would be completely legal here in Europe.

Yeah, that. It's something that has crossed my mind as a fun project, like many other MS-related ones. If there is enough demand for it...

Done, please decide whether you want sequential COPs or wasted spark.

Btw if people in the US are interested in a IAT sensor w/bung, please say so and Scott will send one with your unit for another $30.

Hi Dimitris,

As discussed on Nutz, can you please stick me down for one?

Ross Taylor (Fluoxetine) - '99 NB/Mk2 1800 RS JDM Import with AC/ PS - Looking toward supercharging with an M45 (or MP62), bigger injectors and intercooling at a later date.

(Can you add an aluminium I.A.T to my order?)

Cheers,

Ross.

(Based in the UK/Scotland)

Note for the people with A/C and intercooled superchargers: You will need to do the dual throttle mod, the throttled volume is just too much with a single throttle for the little idle valve to cope with, and the delay involved is significant.

List updated.

One more unit and we can start the process immediately to save time for everybody. The group buy still ends on Aug 31st, so anyone who orders until then, will still get a unit.
