But your baking racks?!? They're not shiny! WTF? Your alignment looks good to me. Would cost a boat load of money to pay my employees to keep the damn thing spotless...and I have 4 of them. I ship!;) |
Doesn't help the previous owner was ridiculously terrible at cleaning. Hadn't in 4 years greased the mill. Cost $500 to replace all the bearings on the damn thing due to it being from the 80s. But that is still better than 15k new, and their shitty quality granite stones to grind the wheat! OK I'll shutup about the bakery now...
Don't get me started on the oven, mixer(140qt hobart...fuck Hobart as a company), and any other equipment. |

As far as I get today. My stupid ass left my injectors seals in the head when I took it to the machine shop so I need to order some new ones from Injector Dynamics.

Third time's the charm on the Injector harness. Messed up each runner length last time and had a lot of bunched up wire that was bound to fail at some point. Also, it is my mission to get rid of all the home depot 16g wire I used. Bulky stuff and comparing wire sheaths, the MXL is leaps and bounds better quality.
Also love this vulcanized high temp sheathing I've had sitting around forever. Get a sharp knife to cut it otherwise it is a pain. Still need to crimp the OEM Miata plugs into it to tie it into the factory harness but it is 115° in the garage! https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1434414675 |

Tried out Day Donuts today. A little too chewy for my liking. But the apple pie filled with cinnamon crumble on top was out of this world.

Does the chewy bit come from the undercooking we discussed in Mobius' thread?

Apple pie with a crumble top is like my favorite pie second to Lemon Strawberry Rhubarb pie(oh god it is amazing). In donut form...yum. Wish we had a good donut place in Southern Utah.

I bet you boys have perfectly sculpted manscapes too.
That harness is beautiful Jeff. Nice job with that tape, it's tricky to wrap it that neatly without bunching it up and ruining a few strips. |
Uggghhhggg I so miss living in the ghetto next to donut day.
The buttermilk is the best one. I went there every Saturday for 3 long years while I followed the wrong career path at Intel That El Salvadorian place around the corner on 185th is really good as well. Perfect for eating after getting random cap from Ace hardware. |

Why is everything stripped on this damn car! It is an M6x1.0, no Jeremy Clarkson "POWAHHHH" shit needed!
*deep breath* OK I'm good, after retapping it and using blue loctite and getting the "credit card gap" I just need to wire it into the main harness now. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1434429531 |

Gah! Jeff! Hurry up on this stuff. I am out of pages to read now. Only took me 5 days of free time....
The car looks amazing by the way. Making me reget buying a car with a carptastic macco job even more (not even wet sanding will help this paint job...). |
I wish I could make the UPS man go faster, but I am literally waiting on 4 injector seals before I can do much else.
|
random question: are you controlling the vics switchover?
|
I have it wired into the DIYBOB on my MS3x but I have no clue if it is functioning properly. Probably should data log to see if it is kicking in or not.
|
Jeff, this was my experience using an MS1-based MSPNP for VICS:
https://www.miataturbo.net/mspnp-55/...in-vics-78874/ Datalogging works great and led to my discovering a "feature" of the MS1 software (see the thread). I also did a physical observation test of the VICS actuator. When I did that, I lowered the setpoint (2K RPM IIRC) and then went around and manipulated the throttle under the hood. Above the setpoint, the VICS arm should be in its resting position (same place as when the car is off). Below the setpoint, the VICS arm should be in its actuated position. |
Set to 2000rpm. Look at butterflys. Blip throttle by hand. Do butterflys move? It's working.
Set to 5500rpm until you hit the dyno again. You want two dyno graphs, one with it set to ~1000rpm, one with it set to ~10,000rpm (always off, always on). In my experience, N/A motors like it open(closed?!) between 3500 and 5500rpm. Turbo motors don't really seem to care... |
yep 5500 seems to be the sweet spot. the valves should be closed below and open above. default "resting" position is open. vacuum should close them as soon as you start the car
iirc |
You know, I've always wondered if it even does much with a car that has a turbo. Wouldn't a square top manifold suit it a little better?
|
No, doesn't do much on a boosted car -- better off with a squaretop (or just turn up the boost a little).
|
Yeah the flattop is likely the best oem option.
I really don't know about if it matters in boost, I keep hearing conflicting info |

Seriously awesome prices on those lately

Send me your VICS after you buy the flattop. You have my address :)
|
I'm pretty happy with my manifold thank you!
Plus I'd not like to go through the hassle of Powdercoating it, buying gaskets, running vacuum lines, yadda yadda for a tiny inestimable gain. Sorry y'all maybe another week you'll get to see the next episode in how Jeff goes overboard. |

I really don't know about if it matters in boost, I keep hearing conflicting info AIUI, the crossover point should be based on engine RPM and the speed of sound in the intake charge. Mach changes a lot with temperature, but not much with pressure, so if your intercooler is working well then that lines up with the theory. --Ian |

BTW for anyone needing new lower seals for their ID1000's you need the -204s. Here is where I got mine, which Bryan informed me is actually Injector Dynamics website itself...
-204 Lower O-ring - Fuel Injector Accessories - Fuel Delivery - Category |
Wait, you just needed the cushion seals that go between the injector and the head? I've got like 3 sets of them, I would have mailed them to you for free. Or in exchange for bread.

:giggle: I have a plastic baggie with a grip of stock ones. They are used but serviceable. Rleete, you are welcome to a set of 4 for the price of shipping :bigtu:
|
but do they come with stickers?
|

They can, yes. What kind of stickers? I have a bunch from a BBQ place I visited the last time I was in Texas, or I can include rainbow triangle stickers I picked up the last time I was in San Francisco, perfect for a Miata vent window.
My favorites are these: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1434572942 You can easily stick them to the bumper or below the tailgate on a pickup truck where no one will notice them unless they are seeing it from eye level. Prefect for lifted pickups. |
Bake bread? Hell no. Cookies, occasionally, but not in quite a number of years.
Jeff got his stickers, but promptly snubbed me and replaced them. I am forever wounded over this, and have lost all faith in humanity. Or Bakers. E02K, pm incoming. |

I wish this was the Injector seals but it is an equally important package. Dropped my Brown line torque wrench and the display/torque broke all to hell, so I ordered another that seems way less plasticy and has at least a foot of length over the old one. Nice case too. 25-250 tq. Backlit screen, all the beeps and led colors.
Hopefully this one sees as much use as the old one. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1434580984 |

I do but it has been sitting on the rear patio without a valve cover so the internals ain't so hot. Plus Lazarus already scavenged the cams off it. Also linky for those that are interested in the Tq wrench specs. |

Funny, I have Lazarus' old engine, so I guess I have your cams too...what is that now, IAC, crank pulley, and cams?

We have cams, head is just warped. If you think its salvageable we would probably love to take it.
