Phoenix is the same way tommy. Total turds, NA6s at that, for 4k every where. It took me months to find my NA6 for $2500, and I'm embarrassed for paying that much.

It was a $1200 car. And TBH, I only paid 1250 of that 2500.

Same herr in NJ. A turd NA6 is up to 3500 or so. Mine was 2500 almost 4 years ago. And prices are going up quick thanks to all the drifters around here

Dallas and Oklahoma all seem to have pretty sweet deals, there's like one miata on craigslist in all of South Dakota lol

I had found a nice-ish 99 in Texas with no rust, I probably could have got it for $2500. It had a black hood, ricelands, and a cut top. Was only a 5 speed too. There was a really nice white nb2 6sp, with wilwoods, FM stage 2 tokikios and some other things listed for 4250. Was gonna have to call that guy next. A similar NB would easy be listed for 6500+ around here. I think it's the supply, there's none cause the roads are **** for miatas. Besides the green one that probably sold a month ago, I was coming up empty...

I can't wait to send the dollars for this car tomorrow, I hate buying cars especially in such a tight timeframe.

The supply of clean low mileage miata's is going down. NA prices bottomed out a few years ago, and they are slowly creeping up. I think clean NB's are probably at the lowest point now that they will ever be.

If you see a sweet one in Tulsa let me know I'll look at it for you. There are a few decent looking NB's on Craigslist now.

I'm officially out of the miata market again, sent money for the 2002. Gonna leave to pick it up tomorrow afternoon, nice long boring drive.

Can't wait to get rid of this shitty cvt camry and start driving a miata again, even if it's slow.

Miata made it home, what a long *** boring drive. Only saw two cops the entire 800 mile trip though, so there's that.

Here's a bunch of pics from the auction since they look better than what I take. This is a $3600 miata, insurance valued my salvage title beat to hell 1.6 at $4900 lol

For a sight unseen purchase, I'm pretty happy. Didn't even talk to the owner before I bought it, straight yolo'd this one. Glad it worked out.

First impressions...

Motor mounts are gone, gone. It doesn't seem to use oil, and will cruise at 90 just fine. VVT or 1.8 makes sub 3K feel better than my old turbo 1.6, past 3K I'm missing a serious bit of torque, but noturbo will do that 1.6 or not. It started making strange whistle noises and tickings at around 3500 around 50 miles from home, going to investigate that later today.

I hate the six speed. I'm banging the reverse gate trying to get to 5th, I can't seem to make a nice slow 6-4th downshift to save my ***. Nothing speed racer, just trying to go from 65 to 80 or so in any decent time frame. The shifter **** seems low, I think I need to check for a short shifter. Can anyone measure the height from the console to the top of the nardi **** in neutral for me? 3.9 rear end is nice though, this miata is a lot less buzzy than my last over 65.

The driver's door arm rest cracked. Eight hours of sticking your elbow in that ******* sucks. The seats are terrible too, the lumbar seems way too proud to me. Might not be bad for normal driving, but it sucks on a road trip. Might put NA seats in, I like them and mine don't look half bad. The top has a small tear, and the passenger's top latch is toast and rattles. Might see if NA latches fit, mine were primo still.

It doesn't have billies, it just has the standard sport suspension I guess. No hard-s on the passenger's door jamb. It's a roly-poly beast, and it feels crazy floaty. The brakes are pretty sweet though, makes me think I had a mess of air in my old NA brakes. I've gotta do something about the shocks ASAP though, the roll and brake dive on this thing reminds me of that piece of **** corola too much.

Someone painted it, and it's got an insane case of orange peel. I can't tell if it's a clear, or if it's single stage. Whatever it is, it's adhered much better than the **** on my last miata. I'm gonna test it for clear, maybe polish it down a bit. It stands a chance of looking pretty mint if it's sprayed on thick enough. These guys actually know how to mask, you can't really tell it's been painted from 10 feet.

I still can't decide if I should try and fix my old miata, or part the majority of it out and move onto this one here. I'm thinking I might just start parting out my old car, then make a nice daily driver out of this one. Before all this happened, I was actually planning on finishing my long forgotten s10 project, even found a nv3500 for it. Don't think I can fit three projects at once...

Soo, I guess if you see anything you might want here's your first chance. Will trade for hardtop. All I'm planning on keeping are my brakes, and maybe the roll bar and door bars if I can find a hardtop...

I think you need to turbo the NB. I can have a setup ready to ship for you by next week.

Sweet now we have an NB devo car!

6 speed- Youll get used to it, kinda. At least you don't have another car you have to switch between that's a 5 spd. Also, heavy **** helps a little. I think aidan and I each have a spare we could possibly spare.

Motor mounts- You know we are making a batch of poly mounts.......... nothing to see here move along...

S10- *** the NA, part that bitch out, get the s10 done. Itll be funny if we both start on them at the same time (im starting to work on mine again very soon).

I'll be turbo'ing the NB for sure, can't have a slow miata. I think selling NA parts ought to get me 3/4 the way to a decent setup, I need space in the garage so I'll probably start tearing it apart in my spare time. I need some things, ms3x, and I guess that's really about it. Where do we find ECU sockets, bug Brain?

Would you be interested in making me a catback or downpipe-back exhaust, Lars? Then I could sell my whole 1.6 turbo setup without trying to make it fit a NB, plus your stuff's stupid sexy... Aidan should have a nice flange for me, I was planning on making a low mount setup from that for the NA. Gotta be something with an external gate for this 40 trim t04b though. Still not sure how I'm gonna do it, thinking I might use pieces of the NA and this spare 1.8 as a jig. I'm thinking I'll be happy with low boost for a few weeks while I build the spare 1.8 block, then I'll just swap it over with a new clutch. I think I'm gonna want something a little more grippy than my FM1.

There's no reason I can't put a B8 block under a VVT head, right? I know you can't swap cranks over, but the head and oil pump? I guess I probably need to look into what the crank nose is.

I'm bugging Pat for his MR short shifter, one of those, a few quarts of motorcraft, and new motor mounts ought to make things as good as they can be, right? Besides not being able to find the gate I want, this thing does shift pretty smooth. Reverse sucks, but I'll get over that.

Thinking I might just buy a set of bilstein b8's for now, my sleeves and springs made it out alright. It seems the lower shock eye got the brunt of the damage, from the control arm folding like a calzone or something. NB's have a little more clearance than NA's right? I was going to make 1" and 1.25" tophats for the NA, that's what I measured at the shock as wasted droop travel and I think I could have still used it all as bump without hitting the fenders or anything. I was hoping that'd keep me off the stops and let the springs work, then it wouldn't launch itself up into droop so hard on a nice solid bump.

Need to find a door panel, too. This big crack is annoying even on a short drive!

Does a slave rod or TOB fork squeak, squeak on decel then go away when you push the clutch in? It'll stop squeaking with any load, too. Seems to be RPM dependent. I guess it could sound like crickets, squeakasqueakasqueaka is about as best I can describe it.

you can lube up the fork/slave connection, super easy, but most the time it's the TOB squeaking

...also 'grats on finally getting a Miata worth boosting

I've had to grease a couple right where the slave piston meets the fork. At idle, try pushing in the clutch just a tiny bit. Just enough tension to make the parts mate will make the noise go away if that's what going on. I've also noticed it's more likely with a tired slave cylinder. Try holding the clutch all the way down for a while & see if you can feel the pressure surge in the pedal. A little blob of grease on the end of the slave piston will kill the crickets though.

Thanks 18! This thing certainly feels a lot better than the old 1.6.

I haven't got any squeaking at idle, at first I thought it might be pad wear markers but it's gotta be something coming from the engine or input shaft.

If I had to guess, I'd say 18's probably right and the TOB is making the noise. I'm thinking it must be loose or falling apart when it's unloaded, but any torque loads it up and keeps it quiet. I'm betting it won't be long before it starts humming with the clutch in.

Really need to get the old miata out of the garage so I can start working on this one, either that or I need to figure out a way to get a sheet of plywood home lol

The real dilemma now is what should we rename this thread to?
Must be amusing. Nothing bland/boring. Nominations start now, GOGOGO
