I have a Mini S rotor, but I thought we decided they might be a little too thick to fit under the caliper right?

 

I think if they fit the 8s, they will fit the 9s. The "lip" on 9s should be closer to the hub than the 8s assuming the same wheel. Im sure threre are differnces bewteen brands and models though. The real trick will be if they fit my 15x6.5 konig lace street wheels. Thats why im kind of glad we are limited to an 11" rotor with the way we are looking at doing this. That extra 3/8" on the radius with the 11.75" rotors could make all the difference with my street wheels.

But yea, we can definitely ship brackets around and play some wheel fitment shell games. Or just send me a decent drawing, and I can fab some up to test.

Regular mini is 11", Mini S is 11.5. I think JCW's uses 12.5" rotors, right?

Mini is 280mm, Mini S 294mm, JCW 316mm, all 22mm wide

Mini S rears are 259x10mm solids

nominal thickness of cooper rotor is 0.866"

miata caliper nominal max is 0.787"

willwood caliper(all the ones weve been looking at) nominal max is 0.810"


Willwood does make calipers that accept 1" rotors. Need to make sure those take a standard pad.


And yea, last I remember we were discussing a few 11" options or the 11.5" cooper S

 

Just as a point of clarification, I'm using a

Rotor: Centric 121.34100



Caliper: Wilwood Dynalite 120-6806



Pads: Wilwood 7112


(Granted, I'm using Carbotech pads, but the dimensions should be standard.)

Looks like there are 5 options for caliper thickness, from 9.7-31.8mm

The 1"/22.5mm caliper would clear no sweat, 1/2" for the rear...

One thing ive keep quiet because I dont want endless Pms from you ******* trying to save $5 on a set of calipers(s10 forum lesson learned):

My good friend and riding buddy is a wilwood dealer. Wilwood works with volume. If I buy 1 dynalite from him, his cost is more than summitracing sells them for. But, if we buy qty. then price goes down accordingly. Not sure how much saving, but its worth a try.

 

Dynalites are three piece, I bet the third piece is different thickness to get different thickness calipers.

Mini Cooper S rotors are 11.5, not JCW. JCW is 12.5"

I am nearly 99.9% positive about the above

 

It just determines the thickest rotor it can slide over with new pads installed. There is only so much room between the casting and the piston when its fully retracted.

We want to R&D these on used caliper, or maybe one of us buys one to test fitments. When we open up the group buy and want to order 100+ calipers is when we are going to want to talk to my buddy.

Not too worried about this forum, much more mature than a mini truck forum.
