11.75 rotor/friction ring is cheap, same or similar cost to 11.5 mini rotor. It is just the initial investment in the brake hub that adds to the cost.
If you guys are really interested I can pull one of my 15x9 wheels out and see if I can fit a 11.5" rotor.

But what if I find them used for 100?</p><p>The time involved is not much.</p><p>Rings and brackets.</p><p>OFSCO in portland has premade lines for every connection you can think of for cheap, and DOT legal.</p><p>If this ends up being <400 that is something I can tell myself I can afford right now. 729 is a lot more.</p>
Here are some of the old numbers I have from when I did it back in 2012/13. You could save the cost of the brackets if you DIY'ed it or got them for cheaper, but that is pretty much what they will run you unless you get the calipers for significantly cheaper. $260 for a pair of new Dynalites is hard to beat.
$35 for the 11.75 friction rings is dirt cheap once you pay $750 for a kit without pads.

I wonder where it comes from. I suck at maths, but I don't see how the 06 JCW 11.5" rotor weighs 13.9 and the regular 07+ mini 11" rotor weighs 12.3. Where does the 07+ 11.5" mini gain nearly two pounds, it's only .2mm thinner?

Besides the thickness differences, I'm guessing the vane pattern has something to do with it.
I'd be hesitant to make a decision based on that fact alone then, I bet different manufacturers have different vane patterns and different weights.

That is stupid cheap! If that is a complete caliper for $97 you should buy a ton of them RIGHT NOW!!! I couldn't find them for less than $125 when I was looking.
As far as the weights. I weighed the Miata and Mini rotors (11 and 11.5) myself so I know the numbers are real. The 11.5" was noticeably hevier when you picked it up. The 11.5" rotor has a disk that is ~11.25 and 0.5" wide extra material over the 11". It adds up quickly. What didn't make sense to me is how the Willwood 11 vs 11.5 is only 0.2 lb heavier.
My only guess is that the Mini S rotor was not just bigger, but beefier since it is designed for more aggressive use and heat dissipation. Just a guess though.
The 11" is 12.6 from the same mfr, for a comparison point.
